A Simple note about life

I have just pondered on something big that has happened in my life lately.
I have discovered a very simple thing. It's the little things in life that you don't give much tought to and take advantage of, that you miss the most when they are gone. So the moral of this story is live your life as if every moment of it is precious, and never take it for granted.

Sorry if this makes no sense to any of you. Just had to get that off of my chest

You bet, never take somethings too lightly. Make use of every gifted moment. You make sense :)

Makes perfect sense and I totally agree. Was there a specific event/incident that led you to this realization?

Don’t worry about what you did yesterday, stupid or
embarrassing, ingenious or miraculous. Yesterday is history,
and there is new history everyday. So worry about today not
yesterday.

Live today like there is no tomorrow,
Live tomorrow like there was no yesterday.

Re: A Simple note about life

When I was in college I went backpacking every summer between the spring and summer semesters - sometimes for a few days going 20 or 30 miles, once I went with a close friend of mine for 10 days, we hiked 100 miles through the allegany national forest in NE PA.

when you first get out there you feel like you are in survival mode, even with 60 lbs of gear and food on your back

after being out there for a week you feel like you could do this all summer without ever needing to see a store or paved road

and when you get back home, no matter where you live, you feel like a king living in a castle

its all about perspective.

Exactally, you really don't know what you've missed until you've lost it! :D

This makes perfect sense, I've lived my life using that philosophy for a long time now, and I love it. I used to explain it as:

People often view life as boring except for those few sparkles in the dark (that vacation, that party, that FIRST Regional...). So we trudge through life with our minds set to those few moments when we know our environment will make us happy.

But it isn't our environment that makes us happy, it's loving one-self that enables us to enjoy any environment we are in (work, bed, couch watching tv...).

Many people spend their entire lives... waiting.... waiting for that time when their environment makes them happy, and many of us aleady know that WAITING SUCKS!

So stop waiting, and start enjoying that time spent while you are sitting at your keyboard typing a paper, petting your pet dog, or laughing along (or at) a coworker :D

It is indeed the little things.

Its ironic... As I started reading this thread, 100 Years by Five for Fighting came on.

The song is right. Live while you can, you only have so many days, don't regret anything.

You guys are absolutely right. Enjoy every moment of your life. Life live to the fullest. At the same time, remember every action you do today, builds tomorrow. Step by step, slowly slowly. So live wisely and enjoy. Life is simply awesome :)

You're in good company, Erin. Paul wrote to the Church in Philippi: "I have learned to be content in whatever state I am in." (ch. 4 v. 11)

I agree entirely. Sometimes, even things you hate while doing them you end up missing. I participate in marching band in fall; we're a fairly competitive band so we have to work much harder than anybody would expect (you try standing perfectly still for five minutes strait in 100 degree weather). During the season, I hated practice. I hated all of the hard work, memorization, and long practices. But as soon as it was over, I realized how much I actually enjoyed it, and how much I missed it. Same goes for robotics, except I always liked robotics, but didn't realized how much fun the build season really was until it was over. To think I've only got 1 more year, I'm going to have to find a team to mentor in college or I might just go crazy.

FIRST is a life-time sport. You'll find a team... don't worry ;)

I am in the same situation with marching band. Also the same with robtics. I am going to Purdue for college and i believe that there is a team there. Hopefully i can mentor that team

Lol. I love marching band and I am going to miss it. It reminded me of robotics for some freaky reason. Six weaks before our first game. The whole thing about acting professional. Inspiring people to continue with band and always trying to improve.
