I was reading The Detroit News from Tuesday and found an interesting tidbit. It's too late for this one, but maybe they'll have more, and closer to Indiana.

Be a 'Survivor' contestant

If you think you have what it takes to make it on "survivor," casting directors are looking for you. Tryouts for the CBS reality show will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Post Bar, 42875 Grand River Ave. in Novi. Contestants must be 21 years or older, U.S. citizens, be in excelent physical and mental health, and allow producers to conduct a background check. Visit www.cbsdetroit.com for more details.

Here is a quick update on this:

It has been over two weeks since they received my tape and application, and I have not heard anything. The application said that they would be doing interviews in late July, so there still is a chance.

Of course, I am not expecting anything, but there is still a slight chance.

Are they at least going to let you know one way or the other? Or are they expecting the applicants to take a hint if they don't hear from them by mid-August? It inhales audibly not knowing either way and not to mention the anticipation also.

But.. but.. You had "Real Canadians" rooting for you.. Doesn't that count from something?
Don't they want to open up their target audience to include these "Real Canadians"?

Oh wait.. Is survivor even broadcast into Canada? I'm assuming it is, but as the saying goes, "assumption is the mother of all evil".

Silly Americans, of course we get Survivor, along with many of you USA-based stations... (FOX, CBS, ABC, NBC, etc) We are realityTV buffoons up here. I myself was at the Wonderland Invitational, (part of the winning alliance I might add *thanks 1241 and 1114*... it WAS 1114 wasn't it?) and part of the video.... anyway "PUT ANDY ON SURVIVOR!"

Nope... no contact at all. It's most likely not going to happen.

However, if we work together like this again, I think that we can compile a good entry for someone* in the future. This could be the start of something kinda neat: when one of us needs the help of the FIRST (or ChiefDelphi Forums) community, they can ask for input like this.

We can do this collaborative thing with regard to writing letters (like the WRRF did with getting Federal $$ last year), putting a video together, or making phone calls.

This is a good thing. I am really not disappointed that I heard nothing from this. Obviously, I did not expect to make it on the show, but I hoped it would happen. There is a big difference to me between hopes and expectations.

*: it would be someone else's turn to do this

Sorry to hear you didn't make it, Andy. I'd have loved to see you on Survivor, and I think you'd have done great. You're still our ultimate Survivor :)

DUde im sorry you didnt make it. However i think its for the best...you are such a good man, that i would hate for you to get caught up in all the political crap that happens after. The people they put on are backstabbing people, and i think you should stay the way you are. but it was worth the shot and a video tape.

Really sorry to see this happen Andy, but there's always Big Brother, right? ;)

Hey, I've got an idea. At nats next year, we'll select 16 FIRSTers and strand them without food or water in the wilderness of Atlanta. :D
