THE OFFICIAL "MY TEAM IS ATTENDING IRI" THREAD
Received your IRI invoice? Excited about going? Let us know who you are in this thread.
I'll start. Team 48 has received their invoice for the 2004 IRI and is looking forward to attending the competition, with or without Karthik as an additional team member. :-) We've got 4-6 mentors and 10-15 students making the trip this year, and it's going to be a blast! Who else? |

Let me restart.....Team 48 will be at the IRI. We're taking about 15-20 people. We're setting up shop in a standard pit, kickin' it with all the cool teams in the gym. We're gonna stay at the Omni most likely. Full disclosure, everyone. Don't let "The Man (Andy Baker?)" keep you down! :-) |
Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
I'll be honest with you, I don't know if we're going! The last I heard we were, but that was before registration happened. I just sent an Email to Jim, hopefully he'll get back to me tomorrow and I'll let everyone know then.

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
im glad to say that team 48 will be there in full force... hopefully with some of our good canadian friends. beware: they may be impersonating true team 48 members. im just glad to say that they can call us their "home south of the border..." LOL u kno who u are! ;)

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
OK, here is the list already -
All of the teams that have registered are in the 2004 IRI. All of the teams that have not registered are not in the 2004 IRI. That should clarify things. Chris "The Head IRI Guy" . ps - just blame david for anything bad. I am only responsible for the good stuff. ;) |

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
California represent!
Ok guys, for the last 3 years (including this year) at least one team from California has been at IRI (two this year). I think it's about time one of *YOU* came out here for Cal Games ;) Ask Paul, he'll tell you how much fun we have. Cory |
Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
Just curious, but what happened to having 60 teams? I assume that only 46 registered... just curious thats all. :)
Thanks! Nathan PEll |

That would be awesome - but what if the Cal Games are right in the middle of plantin' season? Who'll mind the crops and herd the cows? |

My guess is that these other teams are just scared. :) Looking at the list above, I see 9 Regional Winners from 2004 and 7 different teams who have won the Championships over the years. Those other teams probably don't want to mess with the best. Would you want to travel across a few states to get your butt beat? That's OK, these other robots don't mind collecting dust in July while their teammates attend frog-jumping and tulip festivals. We understand. I'm sure that they have better things to do, like watch the corn grow, pull weeds from their yard and spray each other with a garden hose. We'll have fun just the same. I'm kinda lookin' forward to that "Talent Show". Your bud, Andy (for some reason my PM feature is acting funny, so I hope you get this) :D *edit - Oh, my golly gosh... I posted this?! My heavens, what will people think? hehehe* |
Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
Team 93 will be down with about 15 students, a few mentors and perhpas a few stragglers who want to know what FIRST is all about.
See you all in July!! p.s. We still have not received our invoice, but our name IS on the list. Hmmmmm.... |

Maybe that scary 269, 45, and 930 alliance will come together again, 269 and 45 have scored 210 TWICE togther (Midwest and Archimedes). Watch out!!

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
Well, Jim responded to my Email, but we're on the list, so needless to say, we'll be there.

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
Collin, you're doing a great job, don't worry!
And Andy, you have been terrible at covering up the emails and PM's! What are we going to do with this guy, folks? Andy, you shouldn't say things like that to intimidate other teams. You have to understand and appreciate the fact that many teams are too timid to come out and show what their bot can do. I mean, this is THE premier off-season event, so you can probably understand their hesitation. Let's be nice to the small, scared boys and girls of FIRST. Be a good boy. Fact is, although this has been our most successful year in FIRST so far, we just don't feel like the season is over. We are still looking around for some more good competitions, and we know a great place to find one: IRI! It was awesome last year, and this year, its going to be UNBELIEVABLE! (One of our mentors figured out that the average regional qualifying scores of the teams currently on the list for IRI is quite a bit higher than the average for the teams attending the Championship Event. [Yes, he has all the scores for every team that went to Atlanta.] In other words, for any teams looking for a tough competition, a trip to Indiana is HIGHLY recommended!) (Oh, by the way, the mid-west hospitality is impossible to beat! :-) |

Re: THE OFFICIAL "MY TEAM IS ATTENDING IRI" THREAD
We still only have 48 teams signed up for the 2004 IRI. We have opened up this years' competition to 60 teams and we want to see 60 teams!! This fun-filled 2 day event features the annual 'cookout' (which features a cow that has already been slaughtered from the Ritchie Farm), the first (hopefully annual) talant show, website competition, animation competition, chairman's award competition and much more!! Indianapolis is a wonderful and clean city that everybody will enjoy!! There is a lot to do downtown including visiting the NCAA Hall of Champions, canal walk, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and MUCH more!
Sign up and get to experience the Hoosier Hospitality while having fun with robots. We have an incredible list of teams signed up so far and we are looking forward to filling up the field. For more information post in this thread or visit IndianaFIRST.org to register!! We hope to see you July 9th and 10th!! |

We want 469. We want 469. We want 469. We want 469. We want 469. (Oh, by the way, in our last match in San Diego last weekend, our drive team found themselves holding a yellow ball right beside Team 634's basket robot which was under our ball bin to catch the balls, so of course, our guys decided to pull a 469 manuever, and they held the yellow ball over Team 634's basket robot. Guess what happened? Three guesses. [Don't peak.] Yup. You got it. Part of our arm got caught in their basket and we did a little dance with them for the next 90 seconds. And we were being careful not to get caught! Reminded us of a certain match at Atlanta. :-) As for Team 67, HOT, we saw videos of some incredible matches at Atlanta between them and Team 16 and others, and we were VERY impressed. Our statistics guy rates them as one of the top scoring teams in the country. We want them at IRI. We want 67. We want 67. We want 67. We want 67. We want 67. |

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
Good Deal :) 469 you guys are amazing as well - I can't wait to see you guys in action again at IRI.
To see one of the greatest matches of this year, look at the first quaterfinals match from the midwest regional on www.soap108.com :] |
Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
Honestly I believe our team's success is due to our amazing mentors and drivers, we couldn't have gotten far without their dedication. I remember those chicago matches well. I was sitting around in the pits charging batteries when Ed (one of our mentors) runs in with the mangled gripper. He made a nice fix to it too: quintuple-riveted 1" flat stock to keep the gripper together. Although I liked Dan's previous fix to a now-retired gripper: standard screwdriver shoved down the pipe to keep its shape.
I can't wait for IRI. _Alex |

Now we just need to contact the other "HOT" teams for this year, and get them registered, so that the winning teams at IRI will know that they competed against the best of the best!!! Calling all "HOT" teams for 2004. Your presence is requested. Please register immediately for IRI. |
Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?

Re: OK, so who received their IRI invoice?
:D This is getting better and better! WPI (190) was just great this year, I can't wait to see them autonomously hanging/dominating again.
