Re: Has the price of a gallon of gas reached your team number yet??

The number of barrels OPEC can produce was recently rasied by 2.5 million barrels per day. Could this drop gas prices slightly? If the gas prices do not drop another 2 million barrels will be added to the current quota. We can certainly say that someone is trying to lower gas prices.

Where I had earlier posted about.. I was back in that area today (Benton, PA) and paid $1.72 the gas stations were mad houses for out of towners traveling through... people were filling up multiple gas containers.

Re: Has the price of a gallon of gas reached your team number yet??

Here in Merrimack, NH gas is just over $2.00. I haven't had a problem because I haven't been driving to school. I could fill my 95 Toyota Tacoma at the begining of the week and be good. But with the summer comming up next week I'm gonna be driving more. Kinda scared for how much gas I'll use just driving to work everyday.

However, $1.66 would be nice for gas....

Gas prices around here are falling slightly... the last few weeks have been fairly steady at $2.159 or more, now we see some of the stations 'round here as low as $2.019, usually hovering around $2.099...

Re: Has the price of a gallon of gas reached your team number yet??

Gas in my area finally got back down to $2.01 yesterday. I was looking at the sign, thinking "Wow... gas has gotten cheaper this week." Isn't it amazing how quickly we get desensitized to such things? A couple months ago, I'd be talking about how ridiculously high $2.01 is for gas, and now I see that as "low". I guess it's all about perspective.

Funny to think we were all in an uproar over $2+ gas, after the prices that we saw last summer/fall. The same prices we complained about then draw little notice (or are even considered good!) now.

On a side note, I was really hoping to see gas at $1.21 when prices were dropping a few months ago. It never did get that low - not here in RI at least.

It's $1.87 here in Indiana...

On a side note, our Team President, Chris, paid exactly $15.01 for gas on our way back from our team party.

Amen to that. Let's hope it never hits 1622 either!

I remember when gas hit $5 out here. I was paying over $100 to fill my truck up.

Last I saw, Gas is about .92p a litre in London. That works out to about $6.40 a gallon right now. I live in Central London though, and rarely get far enough out to see a gas station so the prices may have dropped in the past few weeks.

One day, in your lifetime, it will. It will also hit $16.76, and higher. Eventually it will be far too expensive to simply burn - but that will probably not occur in my lifetime.

So, High School students: Go to college, and learn what you need to design something way out of the box to address this problem.

Like $16.77? I hope I don't see that on a gas sign before I get through college!

34.50 (I'm riding a bike)

3.14 (seen it)

.79 (This is acceptable)

52.10 (Telecommuting!)

$7.81...per gallon, not so far off (especially multiplying canadian prices by 3.79)
$7.81...per litre, also closer than I would like to think

It's amazing to read the first couple of pages' posts; everyone's saying how gas prices in the 2 and half dollar area is crazy. Now, we'd kill for 2 and half dollar gas.

The gearhead inside of me would cry itself to death if I saw a sign advertising $27.33 gas. On the other hand I would rejoice if I could fill my tank for that ammount, (my current price per tank is $65).

$13.78 would be pretty bad, but I've seen our gas prices get up to $4.69. and now it's floating around $4.10

Re: Has the price of a gallon of gas reached your team number yet??

There's a certain interesting paradox with caring about what happens in the news. One the one hand, we still rely on those countries and our investment in their stability keeps our prices low; on the other hand our removal of arbitrary stability could lead to a price increase in gas that reaches a tipping point at some price. That tipping point then makes alternative fuels/methods of energy much more competitive, and eventually cheaper as they're more adopted. The paradox is that our economy would have to at least temporarily worsen in order to reap any benefits of going beyond the tipping point. Such is the risk of being the early adopter (120V transmission lines anyone?).

Even for an engineer, $300/month for gas is a P.I.T.A. 'nuff said.
