Pucks have a nice property about them-

They are indestructible (almost)

They do not have to be slapped with a hockey stick

They stack very well

They roll very well too

You can stick reflective dots on them

You can fill all types of containers with pucks
:)

i have seen street pucks that are in all different colors and also ones that had leds in them to light them up. i think a street puck would be a great item to use in a first competition...

I'm surprised FIRST didn't require him to have YOU sign a confidentiality agreement juts in case he "slips" and gives you a real clue..

Then again, maybe I am underestimating him.

I must learn to understand the complexities of today's engineers if I plan on working along side them. (CAD Drafter)

Hhhmmmmmm. I am reminded of a previous post on this topic in this thread. To whit:

Then, of course knowing that if I told him something even accidentally that it might end up on this board, I might tell him that everything I might say in the future would be false. Knowing that, he might want to give you a warning that anything I were to let slip, and he were to pass on, would be suspect. I could use that to ensure that everything I said would not be believed, and therefore not passed on. Or if it were passed on it would automatically be interpreted as misinformation, and everyone would assume the inverse was actually true. But knowing that, I could intentionally tell him misinformation, knowing that it would be interpreted as misinformation by him and inverted, and he would then unintentionally post the truth, which would be interpreted as misinformation and - knowing it was misinformation - the inverse (which was actually the inverted truth) would then be revealed to everyone. But since you now know that is possible, I would never do that. But I could just tell him misinformation, and he wold interpret it as such, and then post the truth, but everyone else would think that is was inverted truth and not believe it but believe the inverse. So then they would actually be believing the truth. But we already know that I would never leak out anything true, and since I know the potential for the above scenario, I would never let it happen, so everything that I would tell him would have to be real information only, which would then be interpreted as misinformation, inverted by him and posted as real information, misinterpreted as misinformation by you and inverted to be believed as real information, but since you know I would never reveal real information it would then be believed to be misinformation and inverted again into actual misinformation and incorrectly believed to be real information. Or not.

How do you know that he is really even one of my kids anyway?

I was thinking about that one, myself. HDPE would be much easier to use than ice, but it's also rather expensive. Not that maintaining ice wouldn't be expensive, too (and probably more expensive), but the cost of field materials is something that must be taken into consideration.

Re: Next year's game?

Not only maintaining the ice, but finding venues that have an ice surface prepared for use for regional competitions, and it would be virtually impossible for teams to make practice fields also.

yep i agree-- to make a practice area out of ice in lovely florida-- a bit of a problem--all well-- it's all good-- whatever game we have next year--it'll be cool and make us think

Ok

Note to all::::::

There is about 4 other threads that contain what your posting. Please read over the threads and post in them before creating a new thread...... it makes searches alot more easier and scouting a lot quicker......

To have everything in at least one or 2 areas is alot better then 10 different areas with all the same comments in them.....

As far as 2005 game is concerned.... what ever you guess now may be added into the game but the difficulty in completing it will increase. remember "DAVE" is watching he's like santa claus he knows what you want for x-mas and if ure really good he may give it to you. =D

I was just thinking the other day...suppose we had a tag team match. Three on three, and one robot just sits out until tagged by another team (presumably in some zone). I'm pretty sure the IFI stuff can handle assign the frequencies, although someone feel free to correct me.

Re: Next year's game?

The problem with a tag team match is that there will be plenty of matches where one robot sits out the entire match(a rookie team paired with outstanding vet teams). A) The obvious, they wouldnt be having fun, doing anything with their 6 weeks of toil, ect. B)If their alliance partners win, they get a rankings boost while never taking the field C)If we dont give them points if they dont take the field, they might only get one or two matches worth of points
