Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Yesterday was pretty awesome. Recieved a letter in the mail from Norwich University (was accepted back in September) stating I had been awarded a scholarship. A pretty nice scholarship. Half the tuition, renewable for all four years. (That's more than $40,000). I'm psyched! :D
That was after accepting my team's sponsor's monetary contribution to the team, and before ace-ing my Calculus 1 final exam. Pretty awesome. Congratulations everyone who has been accepted to colleges. Happy Holidays, everyone! :) ~ Jill |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Well, I've gotten a post card from Sac State telling me that they're processing my application.
And I also got a packet in the mail from the Sac State college of Engineering and CS telling me to join their helpful program. But I haven't received an acceptance letter yet... |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I'm applying to the VCU School of Nursing. :)

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
i was accepted to all of the places that i applied to,
University of Toledo (extreeeme back-up) Michigan State (my entire high school will be going there..ugh) Kettering University (love it) University of Michigan (also love it) now the hard part is deciding where i really want to go... |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Yay! Got into MIT early action!
Congrats to everyone else who got accepted, and good luck to those who didn't. Suggestion for this year's juniors who want to go to MIT: Get into RSI - its awesome and you get to work at MIT for 6 weeks over the summer. The research projects you do there can get you lots of scholarship money. |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Wow. Thats incredible. Congratulations.
This wait is going to kill me. I don't know if I can make it until April.... |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I was accepted to the University of Missouri - Rolla a couple months ago, I will be entering doing the mechanical engineering program. But they recently just approved of a new engineering course that is called Entertainment Engineering, which is what I will probably switch too, since I want to do things in the Amusment Park Industry.

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
anyone going to a state school because they can't afford private ones like me???
Fitchburg State for me... |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
UMR is a state-school, thats where I'm headed, but it wasn't really about the money for me....
|
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Applying to:
Carnegie Mellon (Early Decision II) University of Rochester Worcester Polytechnic Institute Plus a few safety schools. Congrats to all those who've already been accepted and good luck to everyone still applying and waiting to hear back!!! |

Haha I know the feeling.... I went through the same crap with the Milwaukee School of Engineering a couple years ago and I ended up getting stuck at a regional campus of Purdue University, but thank god i finally worked my way out of there and Im starting at the main campus next week |

Also, why not get a FIRST scholarship? About $500,000 went unclaimed last year because no one applied. Free money unclaimed. Wetzel |

Then again, I'm biased towards going to Cornell because I live here and want to get out. :) :) |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Has anyone gotten a response from Stanford yet?
*Pacing back and forth nervously*.. :p |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I applied to seven schools:
Scripps College Stanford University George Washington University Washington University in St. Louis Duke University University of Pennsylvania Denver University and a foreign exchange program to spend a year in Germany, but I won't hear from any of them until late March and early April. It would be driving me crazy if I were letting myself think about it, but I still have scholarship apps to finish, and robotics is starting in two days, so by the time I remember that I'm going to college next year, it'll be less than a month until I start hearing from them. |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
University of Michigan-Flint
University of Michigan-Dearborn Specs Howard-maybe And I'm not really sure where else yet. |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Got accepted to Carnegie Mellon! Sooooo excited!

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
UPDATE: Got accepted into the University of Vermont mech engineering program early action on an $8k yr scholarship. Congrats to all who got in, and good luck to those still waiting for that fat envelope.
The reason i didnt chose RIT is that im told is not lively, im looking for a good education, but to have a fun college experience too. Plus its flatter than a pancake. Im a born skier ;-} |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Im going to Michigan Tech. going to be a husky!
Got snow? |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I applied to University of Delaware but could not get in because of the fact i did not have 2 full years of a foreign language.
I got accepted to Wesley college in DE but i declined because they didn't have the major i wanted and it also cost way way to much. I am now going to attend Del tech :_ so i can get my RN then i plan on going to UD for my masters in nursing. I am also going to be attending another school that is only for EMT training but i don't think that counts for what this thread is asking. Congrats to all the others who got accepted to these great schools listed in the posts above. |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I'm going to Penn State for Architectural Engineering. It was my first choice school. I've always wanted to go there. Now I get to spend 5-6 years there completing the masters program. :D

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I got into Cornell University's Engineering School back in December with the Early Decision plan!!!! I can't wait to go, and join some of their teams, especially Robocup.
|
Duke University??
Hey everyone, I was wondering if any FIRSTers are going to Duke University this fall?? I'd love to meet up with some people at Nats or regionals who will be my classmates. I'm in Pratt school of engineering (of course!) Please pass this along to anyone you know that will be going there, thanks! Ashley

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Hey, anyone hear from Northeastern yet? I'm kind of confused on when the engineering school sends out acceptances. Everyone I know who is majoring in something education or health related has already gotten their acceptance letters!
And, any Norwich people here? Looks like that is where I'll be next year unless a bigger scholarship comes through. Looking forward to it. =) Guess I'll be helping out team 885. ~ Jill |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Applied and accepted into Cornell. Guess I'm stuck here for four more years eh?
|

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Georgia Tech (have been accepted)
I'm a Ramblin' Wreck from Georgia Tech and a helluva engineer! If the money thing doesnt work out, Mississippi State is my backup, should be getting a full ride to there. |

For those of you who havent read the 80 other threads about Olin & Babson, Olin's land was bought off an undeveloped part of the original Babson College purchase, so we're really in eachother's backyards. It's definitely different on the weekends when the candidates come, especially since I'm a FIRSTer. I'll be walking around campus, and my "engineer sense" starts going crazy, if you will. :p |

|
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
My list goes sorta like this:
Tier One: Harvard / Stanford / Caltech Tier Two: Cornell / MIT Teir Three: University of Michigan The tiers are as the schools relate to what I want. I'm pretty sure I could go to any of those schools and have a great experience and set me up for the future... but some of those schools seem to fit me more than others. Currently: Caltech and UofM = accept MIT = reject Cornell and Harvard = within the next weekish Stanford = two long weeks |

Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Applied to MIT, Stanford, UMich, and Berkeley.
Accepted to UMich and Berkeley. Berkeley = 40k. UMich = 18k. No competition. Got into UMich, going to major in CE (Computer Engineering). Assuming I get all 5s on my AP tests this year, I'll be halfway through my sophomore year as soon as I get in :D |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I will be attending SUNY-Binghamton next year for Computer Science, are there any others from the class of '05 in robotics that is going?
|
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Applied and Accepted to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).. RIT gives out bad financial aid though.
If anybody is going to RIT send me a PM.. I don't know anybody going there :( ...also if ur at nationals stop by the 1071 pit and ask for kev and somebody will point me out, direct connect me on nextel, or call me (odds are i'll be in the pits staying out of trouble) Colleges I looked at: Northeastern - would be at more red sox games than classes.. didnt apply UConn (Storrs) - offered half tution but didn't apply because they don't have my major and I'd be more into watching basketball than doing homework Wesley (sp?) - offered 8k a year but liberal arts school Ohio Domincian - offered 8k a year but liberal arts school MSCE - offered 10k a year but just looking at the site, it's not very impressive of a school |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
I'm off to the University of Central Florida next year, planning on majoring in Mech. Engineering

I applied to Sac State and got accepted, but I've decided I'm going to go the Junior College route. I just don't have enough money to attend a University right now! Plus, my new house is almost finished. I want to live in it for a year or two before I move away! I'll be transferring to UC Santa Cruz probably in 2007, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. |
Re: Class of 05: Where are You Applying?
Aw man, I need some of you to come to the Milwaukee School of Engineering!! ;)
Good luck to all of you, wherever you continue your education. Kev |
