this is pretty ironic...first everyone was asking for invites, but now everybody has an account, and can't find anyone to unload there invites on.

There's a link underneath the search box which says something along the lines of "Invite a friend to use Gmail." Clicking it brings up a window which tells you how many. (near the top.)

I've got my account already, courtesy of a former teammate from my early days in FIRST...I'll keep my eyes open for any invites that I get given, and pass them along as needed/wanted. Those of you that don't have your accounts yet, all hope is not lost...
