First off, if you REALLY want Gmail, then you can go to ebay.com and bid on one for as little as $1. Or, you can check out www.gmailswap.com and post an offer to see if someone will barter with you for an invitation.

I have 2 invites right now (I believe 1 is claimed). I would love to give someone in the CD community an account, but I believe in gmailswap too - so email (in signature) me with your best offer for a gmail account. I don't want money, just something creative or unusual or interesting(it can be completely free - like something you write or draw). I think this'll be interesting :) It's already amusing me!

How big are these jumbo google accounts again??
I think I'm good for now since Yahoo just graciously bumped their e-mail limits up to 100mb. I went from being at 98% of my e-mail limit to only 6% now.. lol

A Gmail user gets invites through a little link like this one...



I've seen ones where it says 'Invite mom to Gmail!' and you have one invite, I've seen ones that have 3 in them, and now some with 5. I think Gmail is going to go public VERY SOON.

From what I've seen, it's the longer users who get more invites, but wait a day or two, from what I've heard from others, that's when the invites pop up.

I just want to say I got my account (thanks again JosephM) and as soon as I get invites I'll send them out. So those of you who don't have one yet don't give up and keep posting here and I or someone else will get to you. :)

Right now I'm still keeping my Hotmail account along with my new Gmail but if anyone is hesitant on dropping thier old email account cold turkey because they're afraid people won't be able to contact them until everyone knows thier new email you might be interested in Return Path. I have had Return Path since I dropped my dial-up account 4 years ago when I switched to broadband. I was unable to save my dial-up email address because it was specific to my dial-up provider, SNET. I got my Hotmail account when I got broadband and signed my SNET dial-up address to Return Path and that way if I was unable to get the word out to people about my new email address in time I didn't have to worry about losing contact with them.

I've been using it for a few days, and I apologize that I still don't have my invites. A couple people wanted them from me , "Bridgette" and "Bchan". So if one of you invite people would be willing to get them in on the loop that would rock cause I feel bad cause they've been waiting for quite a while.
