1992 FIRST History Lesson
1 Attachment(s)
This is just a note to keep an eye out for the most elaborate 1992 FIRST picture set ever uploaded to the net (11 pics)!!! I've been waiting to do this forever, and just tonight I purchased a hard drive enclosure kit so I could access my old HD. Enjoy. It's all been uploaded to the Misc. Gallery and should be approved by tonight.
EDIT: I scanned these images about a year ago. It's all part of the picture collection that Team 45 has in their shop. I'll talk to Baker once he gets back from vacation and see if I can go grab some more and scan them. Here is a preview.... |

Wow, FIRST has really changed.

Re: 1992 FIRST History Lesson
Now this is 'old school' FIRST stuff!
Wires hanging from the ceiling as if the 'bots were puppets, LEGO league sized field (or slightly bigger), it's just plain awesome! |

I can't wait to see this... I've only seen games past '99, so this I really wanna see! '92...jeez I was only 3 going on 4! --d0ri EDiT~ *eyes pop out of head* wow! I just saw those pictures, and I am in total shock. The event was so small, and the game...small as well! that is so amazing. It's shocking how in 12 years, FIRST has become so huge and the games more involved and challenging. I can hardly believe how small FIRST used to be...I'm so used to it being so huge right now....just...wow. Let's just hope it gets bigger and bigger over the years! |
Re: 1992 FIRST History Lesson
Lemme see, '92, I was 5, wow! :yikes:

Re: 1992 FIRST History Lesson
I was 5, and would've been thrilled to be involved.
Why did they stop covering the field in corn? ;) Thanks for uploading the pictures, i'm downloading them right into my FIRST folder (everyone has a FIRST folder, right?) |

If anyone from "firstrobotics.net" or "firstwiki.org" is looking at this thread please use these on your websites. I believe some of them would make great additions.

Re: 1992 FIRST History Lesson
Clark,
Thanks for posting these! It's always great to show the FIRST community our sometimes forgotten history. Everyone should take the time to hit up Clark with some rep. ;) JV |
Re: 1992 FIRST History Lesson
I wonder how "B I G" FIRST will get. Will it ever allow 10 or even 20 ft high robots. on a football field. unfortunately, probably not.

Re: 1992 FIRST History Lesson
Is that JVN standing on the Delco Demo field (wearing a cowboy hat)?
oops - I just looked again. I thought it was a cute little character, but it's actually a rather plump little pig; I don't want this post to imply I think that about JVN - sorry John, I hope I didn't insult you. You're more the cute character type. |
