There goes our plans of going to NJ and Chesapeake. Wouldve been fun to be at a superregional.

And not to go off and start another rant, but i think its a little compacted after adding chesapeake there, because i know of at least 4 teams that wouldve went to NJ and Ches, or possibly LI.

what is a super regional? what makes it different from a normal regional?

As far as I know, a superregional is somewhere along the lines of 80 teams and 2 fields, for the moment.

I can tell you that the NJ Regional is march 17-19, 2005

Come to Rochester!!! We've had a great time everytime we've been to NJ. We'd love to return the favor. March 3-5, 2005.

I called the Colonial Center (home to Palmetto) today...the guy there had no knowledge of any booking for the regional.

But he did say that it should be around the same time next year. (I get the sneaking suspicion that he wasn't a FIRSTer. Just a hunch. :D )

Its a possibility- but that would be our first event for the season and might be a trick to convince the school. Do we want a recap of the 2003 NJ final alliance?

It's always great to recreate past partnerships!! And Rochester really could use the influx of Hawaiian shirts come March.

How do they plan for Chesapeake to be the whole week i thought the regionals were Thursday threw Saturday not Monday threw Friday. or is that just dates to set up and have the competition?

Anyone know anything for sure about UTC or BAE. We are trying to figure out more info about some regionals and little to nothing has been announced about them.

I would assume the extra days are for setup. It usually takes a couple days to set up the event, in addition to the 3 days of competition. It's not a surprise they would reserve the venue for the whole week, not just Thursday-Saturday.

VCU had 62 teams in 2004 and things went pretty much on schedule. A super regional seems a little much unless some of those teams can't afford to go farther away - I know we can't afford to go anywhere except VCU. We were invited to the championship last year and didn't even have the time to raise enough money for the entry fee. Maybe FIRST can make one of the Michigan regionals the same week as VCU so team 33 (Killer Bees) will stay away and we can win and go next year :)

...But I guess since there are more and more teams that can attend multiple regionals its a good thing they can. Maybe we can get to Palmetto eventually. We should start selling donuts now and might have enough in a few years.

------The whole point of this is to say the VCU regional will most likely be the first weekend March 3-5, which Wetzel already said.
