Reputation PM

I often find myself sending out PMs in response to reputations that I've received. I was thinking that a neat little feature would be a little button beside each rep you receive, when you click this button a new window would open with a PM addressed to the rep giver, with the subject "Re: Rep for thread <insert thread here>, and the rep that was given in quotes.

Would anyone else find this to be useful, or is this just another example of Karthik being extremely lazy? Brandon, can this be done without an excessive amount of work?

Fantastic Idea. I PM only 20% of the time, but for some people this will be extremely useful. Especailly newbies. I remember when i was a newbie in here, I did not understand the reputations I got. Ofcourse its come a long way. This is a neat feature to add to Brandons work list.

Sounds cool. I do do that occasionally. It would seem like it wouldn't be terribly difficult. But I haven't seen the source yet.

OMG!!!! :ahh: Everyone steals my thread ideas!!! :ahh: Just Kidding! :p

I couldn't agree with this more because I have sent a PM to almost very single person that has given me any rep points thus far! It could be that I'm just curtious but I do it to thank them, or ask them the reason behind the rep or to explain something behind the post for which they gave me rep points!!! :)

I would ABSOLUTELY looove to have that feature!!! It would help since I always do it anyway!!! :D

Ohh, good idea man.
I'm totally on the same "extremely lazy" page as you are.

B, can you make it happen?

Just like Karthik, always looking for the easy way out for himself. Think of poor Brandon and the amount of work he must go through daily. Worked himself into a sick bed he did.

That being said, how's the spell checker coming along?

Really... Hm, not me. :D Anyway:

It'd be cool. So far I've sent out a total of 0 rep questions, but if it was convenient, I might do it. :)

Great suggestion... I'd love to have a feature like that. I find myself needing something like it all the time. We're all making lots more work for Brandon :p

Re: Reputation PM

I really like that idea.
I've gotten some rep comments I'd like people to explain more, so that'd be a good idea.
=) Excellent thought!

I find myself needing this to. Maybe one of these days...we should offer to help Brandon out with this work.

Sounds like a good idea, Karthik. I'll have to see how difficult it'd be to incorporate it into vBulletin.

TODOList++;

OH YEAH!!!
Already used it ... very, very helpful! :) I can just click on the little reply icon and not have to go to the person's profile and then click on send a PM ... :p !! Much, much better!

Brandon, you are totally awsome ... we all owe you a lot ... you make being in CD easier and more pleasant for everyone! :D

So so cool -- Brandon, you're awesome!!!!

Mike Ciance used the system to PM me yesterday about some rep, and the following conversation ensued.

Re: Reputation PM

ok I have a question. Say if you wanna give some one a reutation thing, like what do you click on to give the certain amount of points or whatever? I know you clikc on the scale thing, but whenever i give someone a reputation thing i never know where to give someone the certain amount of points and stuff. All i see is just to post a comment. :yikes:

You cannot give anyone a certain amount of points. Depending on your reputation points and the number of posts you made on the forum, they get a certain amount of reputation points. As your reputation points build up, the reputation points you give others weighs more. I hope this answered your question, else click here. :)
