OH MY GOSH!!! Abandon the planet! That thing could destroy us in seconds! Or maybe it's a peace mission. Everyone, please remain calm and stay in your homes... Slight Independence Day reference there. :)

Actually, Voyager 1 found it 24 years ago.

I bet whoever first saw it was flipping out, and George Lucas must think he's going crazy. That's pretty cool...

Hmm.. And when was the Star Wars movie with the Death Star made? Around 1980 right? Freaky coincidence, or planned design by the great George Lucas??

I have a digitally-enhanced version of the Voyager image attached. Note the small object to the top right of the body; it's perplexing NASA engineers. Perhaps another moon in the distance?

Please do not shoot the moon, as you may inadvertantly start an interstellar war.

Man I love Independence Day....

Either that or NASA for discovering it =)

Wow to think there is such a moon that exsists... I bet you that ol' georgy boy knew about that moon and thats where he got his design from. and Even IF he didn't know about the moon back then he does now

I like the edited version of this picture with the death star in the distance of the moon.
