-you have gone to school without sleeping becuase it was ship-day.
-you have put in over 12 consecutive hours at robotics meetings (it's fun!).
-during the middle of class you whip out some paper to sketch out an idea you just got.
-two of your classes are dedicated to robotics (metal fab and engineering design! hell yea! gotta love a flexible school :cool:)
-you build robots for fun in the off season.
-you have enough equipment to build a competeition legal bot in your basement (well, almost comp-legal, hehe).
-you can use a bridgeport or lathe while sleeping and not hurt yourself.
-you proudly display your 5 latest injuries and, despite playing a varisty sport, you can attribute them all to robotics.

Only 2? I have one class but it is 3 periods or classes long everyday. 3 hours a day plus meetings. Yeah I think Im a FIRSTER

... you insist on getting your work schedule altered so that you can continue going to meetings

... when you learn that one class you're required to take next semester runs at the same time as meeting, you already start calculating how late you can be to class without getting in trouble (and also plan on talking to the teacher to see if you can work something out)

... no matter who you are talking to and no matter what the subject you start with, somehow you always manage to turn it into a discussion about robotics.

... you can qoute the dimesions of each piece of the chassis before it was welded, and the final dimensions after, from memory.

... you hope for days off for light snow so that Robotics gets a whole day, and not just the meeting after school.

You actually enjoy going to meetings on Saturday (ours on Saturday go from 8 AM to 4 or 5 PM).

You and your friends start making up equations, relating allen keys, and how you can never have a full set, yet with the missing allen keys you can make a full set of the full type. How cameras are evil, and the team leader works best at certain times of the day :(

... your Robotics folder is actually a 4" wide binder that weights more than your English book ... a lot more.

... when you actually have 2 - 4" binders for robotics on top of three small folders ... also for robotics :ahh:

... when all the "family" pictures on your computer are Robotics related and neither you or your family are in over 90% of them.

... your nails look like you've been digging into mud with your hands and you're either too tired or too lazy to clean them up. :(

you might be a DIE HARD FIRSTER if you get caught sneeking into your house at 12:30 in the morning 2 days before ship with 1/2 inch bolts sticking out of your pokets. (true story, got my guitar taken away! :( )

im sorry to bring this thread back alive but i had to add this: you might be a firster if you come home from competition with a bunch of zipties and flathead screws that you find in the washer a week later....

You learn that homework is done best at 2 AM in the morning.
You worry more about robotics then your Honors English assignments.
You hang robotics related stuff on your wall: EX: I have our operator interface on my wall becuase I can't take the robot home with me..atleast until after NAts.

.... if you take the risk of suspension/expulsion for "distracting hair color" and you bleach your hair and dye it flaming Hot Pink to support your team
.... you have an obsession with wearing your team color(s) at all times for year-round support
.... you refuse to "go out and have fun" because you'd rather stay at home doing something Robotics Related
.... you believe working on something for your team (like organizing photos for the website, making trading cards/buttons, etc) is always more important than Homework (despite taking all Honors/AP/Pre-IB classes which "own your soul" in a sense)
.... you put your heart and soul into everything you do for your team
.... you cry when your team wins the Chairman's Award [at a regional level].


i second that completely! i've got gears, medallions, award certificates, leis, buttons, headbands and more countless swag hanging all around my room from competitions! (i cant quite beat the operator interface though... thats classic)

so classic.... and i have to agree, i have competition stuff all over my room.... and i refuse to ware one of my team shirts until nationals((its also siting, displayed in my room)) because Mr. Woodie Flower's signed it.... got a picture wth him too!!!!

....you have daily chats with robotics people, still talking about how unfair the MWR was
....more daily chats about the robot even though you cant really change it.
....have dreams of winning at nationals and crave to feel the support of fellow FIRSTers at competition.
....spend 4 straight hours everyday on CD just because you dont think there is an outside life....lol. :D
....are at the local library to do a science fair project but still, somehow, end up on chief delphi((guess where i am right now...lol. okay, seriously need to work....not happening....lol))
....get threatened by your parents that you'll no longer have robotics if you don't spend at least half an hour outside of your room, or with them, a day....lol.
....love F.I.R.S.T. NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!!!
