another huricane on the way. http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/ headed right for us as uasuial and its a cat4 right now. Oh boy. hope we will be better prepared for this one. its headed for the east coast (right Towards Me) witch is the most huricane hardned place anywhere i belive. hope things will be ok the only thing that can be done is to prepare.

But you forget one vital fact, which is that if it hits us we get 20 ft seas, and even if it goes east of us, we get 10 ft seas, so any CD surfers need to get thier boards and come surf the 'cane with me! wooooooooo

yes yes this side of florida may enjoy a lovely weather disaster-- everyone boards up this windows and all that fun stuff-- cat. 4 is not fun--as seen by the west coast of our great sunshine state--but why does florida has to get hit bad this year i dunno--but it is crazy

i hope the east side of florida will be okay-- hopefully our bots will be nice and safe now

Yea, this one looks scary. I live in St. Pete, but if this gets that big and hits us I think we could get hit hard too if it continues on its path. Luckily Ive been watching the path of this one for a few days and each projection puts it shifting a bit more north, hopefully it will keep shifting.

Gil, y7ou realise that theres enough kenetic energy in a 10' wave to crush you. Imagine using a Sledge Hammer on a Burger.

im hoping it goes north before it hits you guys for two reasons... saftey... surf...

and a 10' wave cant crush you... just wait till you try to ride Teahopu(sp?) or pipeline or Jaws... that... will kill ya... ive ridden 7-8ft waves and crashed... wasnt hurt at all, got up and paddled out again... (also depends on the depth of the water too, cause Teahopu is a real shallow and deep wave with reef bellow i belive...

in a 10" REAL WAVE! the high air content in white water makes it shal we say Less than Boyant. much less than possivle to propell yourself to the syrface for air

I'm on a few storm chaser e-mail groups. The opinion of many of them (mostly retired meteorologists, many very very experience members of the hurricane prediction groups) is that it will probably turn north. They're not positive, but they think that's more of a probability.

Plus, you guys didn't get a drop of water from Hurricane Charley down there. We got hit by Category 2 up here by the time Charley got here and it did some pretty good damage in some spots, got Orlando pretty good too. You guys didn't get more than a sprinkle of rain :)

I think you all might be taking this a tad bit too lightly. My family is considering evacuation for this one. Sounds like we are going to be just west of the eye, which is not a good spot to be. We got hit by Charley, and it was no where near as bad as expected, however, we still had bad storm damage. I posted about all of that earlier, and have still yet to have pictures developed. If lil' Ole Charley did that much damage, I'm not looking forward to this one that is substantially bigger. I'm praying for all in the FL area.

Florida should just build a big giant wall then the hurricane wont be able to get through.
