Re: Hurricane Frances
Good luck to you all. I guess I am going to ride this one out. I wanted to go to Atlanta, or somebody else's place, but my mom does not want me to leave and have fun. What a party pooper. Not to worry, I am prepared. All windows are boarded up, and I have over thirty gallons of water, with rations. And by rations, I mean Cheeseburger flavored Ravioli's from Chef Boyardee. They also have Pepperoni Pizza! Plus I got this really spiffy generator a few days ago, but the price tag is a bit unforgiving. Hopefully I will be able to use it, but not for too long. :D The eye will get pretty close to where I am, and I am pretty sure Hurricane Frances is going to go to a category four when it makes landfall.
Just perspective, Hurricane Charley traveled across Florida around fifteen miles per hour (I believe). Hurricane Frances is currently going nine miles per hour. So we may be in Hurricane force winds for a long time (probably two days). The eye of Charley was about twelve miles in diameter, Frances is around eighty miles in diameter (this was info given last night, it probably have changed). So it is nothing to take lightly. :( Also, there is a Tropical Storm (#9) out in the Atlantic that is following the same path as Frances. Yikes! :ahh: |
Re: Huricane francis
I just watched the News.... There were 2 people who died in Bahamas and they lost power and phone lines. Hurricane Frances is getting in florida... There are 70,000 household in Miramar, Pembroke pines (about 60 miles south of west palm beach) and Miami Dade county who has lost power now... this is not looking good... :ahh:

And if you are hit head on, (and survive) and the eye passes over you, run outside and get pictures, it's one of the most spectacular sights you will ever see. If there's a bridge go up on it and take the pics from that. You should see the lines of rain falling plus the swirling clowds. |

Hehe! :) Well, my parents and family say that I'm just a bit TOO interested in natural phenomenons and disasters. Although, I know it may sound crazy: I want to see a tornado at least once ... it is such an 'expression' of nature's power. What an amazing force ... its like being in the presence of something so powerful that you have no control over ... ummm. Anyway, this ensures to be a force on its own ... and I do plan to take several pictures (which I will post later on) of Francis. However interesting it may be ... it is still something that must NOT be take slightly. PLEASE KEEP SAFE!! and DO NOT DO CARELESS THINGS!! *Update* - I've heard from a conference earlier this morning that there will most likely be power shortages, torrential rains, hurricane winds, and possibly tornadoes. SO PLEASE BE CAREFUL IF YOU LIVE IN FLORIDA!! |

[Reminiscent] I think that they eye of a hurricane is one of the most beautiful natural phenomena to see. I mean, after all this wind and rain and noise, there's a sudden quiet, still and peace, and I love the smell of rain in the air. [/Reminiscent] |
Re: Huricane francis
well, this is the last you're going to here of me. Im sutting the computer down and nothing is going to come back on until after the storm.

Re: Huricane francis

Re: Huricane francis
Yup, Ivan is coming in about 10 days. It may still drift south to Central America, but given the pattern so far, it doesn't look likely.

Hey all, I heard from a couple of friends in Palm Bay (30 miles south where I am) that they just lost power; and Frances has not even made land fall! They said it was of a tornado knocking out their power. Just a reminder to stay indoors.
Also, I made a garage brace using Tapcom's and 2x4's. See the attachment to see what it is like. Good luck to all. |
Re: Huricane francis
LOL, im such a nerd, im online using my laptop and my boat battery and an inverter. The power is out. Brace for the eye!

Re: Huricane francis
Apparently Frances has now dropped to a cat. 2, but it has stopped moving. I guess you'll just have to sit back for awhile, she'll be in Florida for at least a couple days it looks like.
