RiverRage Video (Team 190 vs Team 237)

Things were looking grave for T190 until this vault landed perfect 10's from the judges! .... If you weren't at RR8 to see it, here's the 190 slam dunk with the assist frrom 237. It's still insane now matter how many time you see it. Watch for yourself

for those of us that can't download the video ( or our feed to too slow to download it now) is some one willing to give us all a play by play?

Both Team's 190 and us (237) are fantastic hangers in my opinion.

In this match, 190 gets on the bottom platform in autonomous, while we wait till human controlled time to get on the bottom platform.

190 then reaches their claw in the air to grab the bar as 237 climbs the top platform and instead of reaching our claw up to hang, 237 heads straight for 190 to push them away.

237 ends up underneath 190, somehow enabling 190 to climb 237 and in doing so, grab the bar, and hang as 237 falls to the floor, while 190 hangs and swings on the bar.

It's weird to explain, but from where I was in 237's player station, it looked as though we catapulted 190 onto the bar to hang.

If you have a slow connection, right click and save target as.
It's definitely worth the wait. (only a mere 4.62mb for a sight beyond words)
Even though it was a match where points were scored against us, it was definitely a cool match no doubt.
(But then again, I am biased.. :) )

Re: RiverRage Video (Team 190 vs Team 237)

237 pushed 190 into the goal, which tipped 190 backwards, into the goal. 190 didn't fall though, because of the goal, but being tipped backwards, 237 snuck in under 190. After sneaking in under 190, 237 somehow tipped backwards themselves (Elgin, maybe you can help more on how that happened?), and due to some strange occurence, 190's probe (single hook to pull the robot up with) was extended, and happened to snag the bar as 237 "catapulted" 190 up into the air. Luckily, no extreme damage was done to either bot in that exchange, as both were back up and running perfectly fine in their next matches.

I was sitting on the other side of the field (that big mass of maroon), and from what I saw, it definitely looked like 190 got air off of that move, but I guess not. In any case, it definitely takes the cake for the most amazing thing I've seen in my three years of FIRST.

WHOA! That was completely awesome! :-O Whoa...
I'm in total shock...what're the odds of that happening again!? Goodness I thought that smaller robot would throw 190 off the platform!
*shocked* wow...I've seen it all...

Wow... and I thought 175 capping at the last second against 190's impressive defensive arm in Atlanta was the play of the year. This is so much cooler. Absolutely incredible.

I am highly amazed :ahh: ...I have no clue how 190's arm was just perfect to latch on to the bar. :ahh: :ahh: :ahh: I am AMAZED! :ahh:

If I were to forget everything but one thing at River Rage... I would want to keep that image forever. It was INCREDIBLE! I never thought I'd see gymnastics like that outside the Olympics.

I was in the pit helping fix our robot before our match after that... I wish I got to see it live... I heard the crowd going wild so I started to walk over and next thing I know I saw 190 hanging and another team driving on top of 237's shovel on the arm... It was craaazy...

Re: RiverRage Video (Team 190 vs Team 237)

That match was amazing. All I saw was 190 on top of 237. 237 falling over, and 190 gracefully latching on to the bar. That definetly wins as my favorite match of all times.

Hope everyone had a lot of fun at River Rage!

Coolest move I've seen at a FIRST competition.
We argued 237 should get partial credit for the hang.

Incredible.

That was definitely amazing! The chances of that happening.. I mean, wow..

As a side note, and in usual post competition fashion, I have to ask: "Is there more video where this one came from?" More specifically I'm looking for video of the elimination rounds. If anyone has footage, then let me know. Thanks.

The view on the camera is 10x better than that of the human player station. wow. i was driving into 190 and next thing you know they were on the bar, i had no idea what was happening until they were up and we were on our back.

All I have to say, thanks Dez for the bottle of Bawls after the match, haha, and thanks JVN for the arguement of some points.

::tear:: You kids make me proud :)

People wonder why I stay in robots, and its because I get to see amazing plays live, like this one.

Edit: No, I was not at RiverRage. I was not just hiding out because I didn't want to say hello. :p I was at Babson for a SigKap Recruitment Workshop.

the only reason we flipped was because the arm was activated so it was on its way up and it made us top heavy....but that did no damage to either teams

Re: RiverRage Video (Team 190 vs Team 237)

wow... all i have to say is wow... i cant think of anything other to say right now than wow... wow... wow... ok im done... but by far, that is the sickest/craziest thing i have ever seen in my FIRST carrer (which started in Feburary but thats ok..) even from vids i have not seen anything crazier... but im kinda happy i didnt get to go to RR, cause who woulda known if those 2 teams woulda meet if 121 or any other additional team was there... so kudos to 190 and thier great job to be able to pull that hang off... and its espically good no damage came out of that =D

Play of the year! That was amazing! It's stuff like this that I think would make FIRST perfectly fine for general public veiwing (like on ESPN where it was years ago. I was dissapointed ESPN didn't mention FIRST for some of it's old sports programming during it's 25th anniversary special). It really is as exciting as any high school basketball or football game (and I go to alot of them). Can't wait for the new season to kick off! :D

I can confirm the no damage part, I took a good look at our robot last night. You can just see in the video where the top of the arm whacks us on the far side.

My impression from the players station was that 190 had some how climbed onto 237 and then steam rolled them flat, that's how quick it happened!

For those who did not hear about what happened at Bash @ the Beach:
It was a basic mirror image of what happened at River Rage, but a the opposite end result. 190 climbed the first platform in autonomous and got ready to hang. Driver control time started and 237 climbed to the top platform before 190 latched onto the bar. 237 drove off of the top platform and rammed 190. 190 fell over onto its side and almost took out a group of spectators when the arm came down and got disabled. 237 turned around and hung to take the win.

That is the reason robotics is just so cool. I mean you just don't see stuff like that anywhere else. Just amazing. That has to be the meaning of a robotics competition. I love stuff like that.
