Anyways.. I'm kind of dull when it comes to music. Well.. Let me put this another way. I have a very eclectic taste in music, but it is mostly a lot of American and/or Americanized music.

As for Foreign Music, I enjoy a lot of euro-pop and techno house songs mixed at places like Creamfields in Liverpool, and @ Home in Space in Ibizia, by artists like Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Seb Fontaine & Timo Maas.

edit: When it comes to a classicly loved(?) Foreign Song, one has to mention Dahler Mehndi - Tunak Tunak Tun for sure..
For all you 3D Studio Max lovers out there, this video should be right up your alley. It looks like the whole thing was made using 3DSM.

Re: Foreign Music

They're from Germany, as far as I know. My neighbor's cousin came over from germany and they were her favorite band. She said they were german and the only other person I know that knows who the Guano Apes were is my friend from England. So i'm assuming if they're not from Germany then somewhere in Europe.

"Germany's Guano Apes got their start in the university town of Göttingen, where bassist Stefan Ude, guitarist Henning Ruemenapp, and drummer Dennis Poschwatta jammed together as teens. They auditioned various lead singers with no luck, until a friend of Poschwatta's introduced the fledgling trio to the fetching Sandra Nasic, whose explosive, expressive, wildly wide-ranging vocals and English-language lyrics dramatically changed the young band's direction. A fan of rap music and nü-metal bands like Korn, Nasic also brought a rap element to the Apes' hard rock sound."

I listen to a band called Selfmindead ... they're a swedish, christian, metal/hardcore band.
There's a punk band called Wizo from Germany that I listen to, also. Good stuff. :)

I like a ton of stuff!
Out of the Japanese music I like J-Pop, and I hope to branch out a lot more into other types.
I enjoy a Swedish band called ABBA, some of you may have heard of them. =) Big fan of them.
I like a lot of Spanish music...mainly Selena. I like some of Shakira's old stuff too.
=) Excellent thread idea, Genia! <3

Re: Foreign Music

In hopes to not get yelled at for bringing this thread back, I'd like to make a few more plugs:

1. Lacuna Coil ( http://www.emptyspiral.net ). They're an italian band that is really great. I'd recommend anyone buying their CD "Comalies" (it's in English). Also, the link I gave, if you sign up (it's free), you can download a song or two from their other albums (in English).

2. Mandylion (no link known now). I don't know if this group just dropped off the face of the universe, but they [were/are] great. They're something like a darker Nightwish.

I dunno if it's just me, but it seems like a bunch of foreign bands in the metal-related field have lead female vocalists. It's all good though :)

Theres lots of awesome electonic music coming out of Iceland and northwestern europe. Lots of really pretty slow music, check out mum, Bjork is from that area too, but shes pretty popular in america. theres tons of them i think Siguir ros is from there, i have a Nordic Roots CD that is so frigggin awesome.

Re: Foreign Music

Siguir ros is amazing. Good call. Bjorks new CD is essentailly all vocals. I highly recommend it.

Many european bands right now are very high up on the lead female vocalists. Keep truckin guys ;) and tell me all your info.

oh cool! can i meet her!? lol

X-japan is definitly a j-rock.. no hint of punk in them. :D never heard of madreil tho... Mad Capsule Markets is another nice japanese punk band... maybe kinda techno.. but not much more techno than linkin park, who started out nicely but in my opinion are now dull..

I love the music.

J-Pop is so hard to find here, and when I can it is at Korean owned novelty stores at $30-40 a cd. It makes me sad. :(

Pizzicato Five J-pop/lounge music 'happy sad'

Ian Dury and the Blockheads - British sex-funk, great strut music. 'Hit Me with Your Rythem Stick'

Random bhangra I got from my neighbor. I <3 bhangra.

Rammstein, Nena Hagen, Die Fantastischen Vier - German stuff. Death metal, pop vocalist, 90s hiphop. :D

Kabouter Plop - Dutch speedcore

Russia2000 - Russian....I don't know what to call it

The Distillers - Aussie punk. Really good live show.

Sin Palabras, Los Moscoso, Si*Se, Supatone, Ozomatli, Kovino Dos Santos, Mabulu, Bifinte - Spanish stuff
And who can forget Los Del Rio? ;)

Sorry for bringing back old threads, but I didn't want to make another topic about the same thing.

Another band, that I just really heard about, is theTRAX (website is in Korean [they're KRock]).
