Re: Question of the Week!!! (9/26/04)
Id also have to say Martians vs Las Guerrillas for one major reason. They might not be actual rivals, but in the past 2 seasons, they've both made it to the national finals(on separate alliances) and both won and lost.[/quote]
Well, it probably does appear that way, but I'd prefer to think of it as a health respect for each other. We did face them in the final matches and also we usually ended up located next to them in the pits since our numbers are so close. We finally teamed up on the same side (along with 1227) to win the Kettering Kick Off 2 weeks ago. It was a pleasure to work with these folks and I hope we get the chance to do it again. Jay |

Re: Question of the Week!!! (9/26/04)
330 has had 2 seperate sets of rivals.
For the first 2 years, (1997 and 1998) the main rival was Dave Lavery's team. (see his post for many more details). However, we quickly realized we were miles ahead of them. :p After that, it quickly shifted to 254 and 60: San Jose 1999: Lost to 254 in the semis San Jose 2000: Lost to 254 in the finals LA 2001: Won the regional with 254 as alliance captain San Jose 2001: Lost to 254 in semis Nationals 2003: Lost to 254 by one bin in the division quarter finals San Jose 2000: Lost to 60 in the finals LA 2001: Won the regional with 60 San Jose 2001: Lost to 60 in the semis LA 2002: Won the regional with 60 Arizona 2003: beat 60 in the quarterfinals LA 2003: not sure. Arizona 2004: Beat 60 in the semis |

yeah yeah yeah---nothing though major between us though -- still got to love swampthing--but only a slight tension when it comes to competition w/ the bots and bowling ;) -lol---thanks tytus for creating that one--but S.P.A.M. forever luvs Swampthing :) but really in FIRST i wouldn't say the word rivals--just a bit of tension everyone gets in the spirit of competition but everyone goes along well and follows the rule of gracious professionalism---now if the world followed the rule of gracious professionalism--it would be such a better place :) |

Off the cuff, I can't think of any great rivalries (since I tend to agree many are fleeting from year to year), so I'll just say the team I'd most hate to have as a rival: 88 Man they're tough! Thank god we wrote '190 <3 88' in trashbags in the stands back in TX or who knows where we'd be today with them :-P Gotta love 'em |
Re: Question of the Week!!! (9/26/04)
How about Freshmen know-it-alls and everyone else on the team?
We have a few of those. |
Re: Question of the Week!!! (9/26/04)
One of the healthiest rivalries that Team 234 has, is going on with our West Coast California friends, Team 980. We've been rivals for a few years now and each year, we seem to have a very similar robot and both of us certainly are show pleasing when we go against one another. In 2003, we both had arms to hit the crates on the ramp during autonomous, and last year, we both made a 2x grabbers and hung on the bar. It's odd, being rivals with a team so far away. Most teams that are rivals, are closer to each other. What can I say, I guess we're a bit different than most. :]
