Coolest thing I've seen
The absolute coolest thing i just saw from watching the Lone Star regional is a robot (i think its 118) that has two arms that flip down and extend out....and they drive between two goals...but here's the kicker, the arm platform is a turret and the just rotate the base (track driven it looks like) and dominates....really way cool!!!

Team 469 can do that also. It's neat to see the goals stay in place while the bot rotates.
Another cool thing at the Buckeye regional was when Team 45 (TechnoKats) dragged two goals AND another robot to there scoring zone. They got power. Wayne Doenges |
Thanks Wayne!

We worked so long on our ball collector system in the Q matches, that we didn't show power 'til our last Q match. Our driver wanted to see what TechnoTank could do with pulling a robot and two goals and he had alot of fun doing so. By the way, congrats to G-Force for winning the technical award for your arm control system... was it the Leadership in Controls Award (my mind is still a bit fuzzy). I was suprised to see that none of the picking teams chose to have a strong bot like 535's on their alliance, that's for sure. There were many very good teams at the Buckeye Regional who did not get picked for the finals... that shows how strong this regional was! Andy B. |

T-190 has been known in the past for doing things that haven't really been done before...as in the original translational drive systems of 1999 and 2000. This year we have two CVT's that power our bot anywhere from 2 feet per second in low gear, all the way to 14 feet per second in high gear where we have it limited. We also acomplish this by keeping the drill motors at their peak power output and optimum cooling speed. One cool thing about it is that we use the same CVT's to reel in the goals once we are hooked onto them, giving us full speed if there is no load on it, but then down shifts once a load is attached. At VCU once we grabbed on goal and anchored, one robot tried to pull the goals from us, but we just kept whinching them in sideways...it was way cool...can't wait to see everyone at Silicon Valley in a couple of weeks, and at Nats at the end of April.

The only thing bad about this match was we won but the loser got 0 points. they were more concern of getting the goals them points Before: http://www.valleytech.k12.ma.us/Robo...g%20Robot2.jpg After: http://www.valleytech.k12.ma.us/Robo...ing%20goal.jpg we snap a 1000lb cable on that match so we turn around and use our grapper to pull the rest of the way. you can see all the other picture at this web site from KSC http://www.valleytech.k12.ma.us/Robo...photos2002.htm that was power. Heat wave was the 2nd one that was flip over trying to stop our robot. |
