Re: RoboNexus
We have been invited to go, and as far as I know, we are going. So does anybody know for sure yet? If we are running matches, i think we should get to work on our 'bot.

Looks like we need to repair our robot sometime soon. |
Re: RoboNexus
Team 814 is going, and so is our good ally 1458.
It's going to be a lot of fun. I can't wait! :] |
Re: RoboNexus
I'll be there Sunday, and possibly Saturday, depending on what time the Stanford football game I'm going to is.
Look forward to seeing all the AWESOME Bay Area teams again :D |

Re: RoboNexus
Does anyone know the actual dates that FIRST teams will run their robots? I've asked a few people and I've been getting different results.

Re: RoboNexus
1097 is going. From what we've been told, FIRST teams are there Friday and Saturday. We will be engaging in exibitional competition just to show off and demonstrate to the hundreds of CEOs, venders etc that will be there. I was told we get wristbands etc with the dates, like our teams wont be allowed in Thursday or Sunday. Also I would recommend contacting Jason Morrella or Jim Beck if you wanted to go. I dont know if they can get you in now but it never hurts. We'll have our own little pit areas as usual, Dean Kamen is starting off Friday with a speech and undoubtfully will have Segways galore. A large portion of it is dedicated to educational robotics ie FIRST.

Re: RoboNexus
Well, Robo Nexus is over now...
What'd you think of it? Did anybody find any good mentors or sponsors? A kid on my team won a Robo Sapien in a raffle...And I met a fellow Rubik's Cube-er. And another kid on my team brought his light sabres and chased that Storm Trouper guy around... It was fun. And tiring. But more fun than tiring... |
Re: RoboNexus
RoboNexus was fun. As for our robot, it broke too many times, only hanged two times, never really made it off the floor. The darn hook-extention mechanism gave out on our last round, talk about timing.

Re: RoboNexus
Ours went well. I was extremely happy since our bot got up on the platform on autonomous using code i had just guessed at and never tried out. We have a few interested sponsors and a couple of great ideas from the seminars. We are also looking to possibly purchase from a few of tge vensord there. All-in-all, i would say it went great for us.

Re: RoboNexus
Gracious professionalism at Robonexus
I would like to thank Team 972 and Team 1151 for their gracious professionalism that that they demonstrated at Robonexus this past weekend. My family and I, all FIRSTers, were involved with the SERVO magazine sponsored Tetsujin competition at Robonexus. One of the teams, team Raptor, had a battery issue and was wondering where they could find some high capacity SLAs to help their hydraulic pump function properly on their exoskeleton, Pinch Point. Knowing that FIRST teams were in attendance, my sons went to ask for the loan of some batteries. Both Team 972 and Team 1151 gladly said yes, even though they were in the middle of their own competition. This assistance helped Chuck and Bob Pitzer’s exoskeleton to lift the heaviest weight of the weekend, 1140 lbs!! It was a great event with many interesting displays and many influential people in attendance. It was cool to see Dean moving about the place on his Segway, though I almost did not recognize Dave Lavery without his Hawaiian shirt… Check out SERVO magazine. The September, October, and November issues, have articles written by FIRST Team members about this year’s experience. Look for the fourth installment in the December issue. Thanks again 972 and 1151!!! Bill Woolley PS: Congrats to Dan Rupert (Team 812) and Donald Engh of Team Techno Trousers for third place in Tetsujin. . Great job!!! |
