American Teams Coming To Canada

Team 859, West Virginia University & Morgantown High School, is the first American team to sign up for a Canadian event for the 2005 season. They signed up for the Super Regional in Toronto. So it begs the question, what other American teams are ready to take the cross border challenge?

For the past two seasons Canadian teams have won down south (188 in W. Mich in 2003, 1114 in LI in 2004), and American teams have won up north (378 in Toronto in 2003, 33 & 639 in Toronto in 2004)

Are the big boys ready to take their show to the north side? Come on up to Waterloo and Toronto, and show us what you're made of, eh?. :)

Due to financial constraints, 639 may be unable to attend the GTA regional... I'm working on getting $3000 so we can.

Hmm, I don't know. Only if you promise not to sing.

I officially make Toronto and Waterloo a Karthik Non-Singing Zone. The will be no singing by Karthik within 5 miles of the competition sites. ;)

You could always duct tape him if he tries :D

I think that plenty of team could go to canada, they just dont realize that there is as much depth up there than there actually is! our top alliance partner was from there (1241) and there are so many strong teams. I think i might try to get us to a super regional sometime

Team 830 won't be going, its just to expensive and its also pretty far, but don't worry we will take you at nationals.

Huzzah! Then count Team 48 in for the Greater Toronto Regional. :)

We'd love to attend Toronto! Currently, we are trying to dig up some new sponsors and maybe, just maybe, this dream could become a reality for us in either 2005 or 2006.

There are a load of amazing teams up there and we'd love to take you all on ;)

I've tried to talk 818 into going to one of the Canadian regionals, but no one else seems to want to head up north with me. For what it's worth, though, we'd be competing in Canada if I had my way. :)

As of right now there are seven American teams signed up for Toronto.

I'm under the impression that Woburn (188) is going to California, but as is stands right now they're only registered for Waterloo and Pittsburgh. I take this to mean they're doing 3 regionals this year. Steve or Jeff, care to clarify?

That is correct. Waterloo, Pittsburgh and SoCal. I don't think that 188 will be going to Championships for the first time in our history. IF we win a regional, well ...................

What do you mean by IF? :P

Hopefully a few more American teams will consider registering for the Canadian events... how many regionals can boast having Karthik on their Regional Planning Committee? A definite bonus and guarantee for a good show. Can't make any promises about the singing, though... :)

I'd like to extend a big welcome to Team 1188, INA AUTOMOYIVE & Royal Oak High School, the first American team to sign up for the Waterloo Regional. We look forward to seeing you. Hopefully this will be the start of a trend.

My team is one of the teams going to Canada. We're signed up to go to Toronto. That makes three regionals and Championships, but we may go to Toronto instead of Cleveland. it'll work bet for our team since a few chaporons (sp?) won't be able to go to because its easter weekend. We also promised the team next to us in Atlanta that we'd go. i can't remember their team number but I do rember that they are the huskies. See you all in Canada.

The Huskies are Team 1112, one of the 2004 Canadian Regional champions.

I'm glad to hear that your team is making the trip. We look forward to having you.

Thanks guys, I think we're going to feel very welecome. Steve W. Do you remember Grand rapids a few years ago, 2003 to be precise. I wasn't apart of the team that year, even though I wish i was.

Ah yes I remember for more than one reason. If you want to know more ask someone who was there. I haven't bet since.
