Sorry we didn't hand out much "bling" this year. We would usually hand out many cowtails and cow bandanas, but this year we just didn't have the supplies. :(

On another note, I want to thank Team 88 for their support of the 007-122-175 during semi-finals and finals; I'm sure it seems strange, but your enthusiasm kept us (or at least me) going.

always a pleasure cheering on great teams...

though it was a tough call for the finals... we didn't know who to cheer... so we just like clapped and were confused... haha

OK more awake now :D Definitely a good time there, had a fun time playing volleyball with Rage in the stands, I was waiting for it to go right in front of the cameraman while he had a shot on the big screen. Didn't have to do any repairs on our bot, so I wasn't sick of being in the pits by time Saturday came along like last year. The "A steak dinner" was hilarious. And there was a really good napping spot up behind the big flag if you were that tired...

The only things that could have been better would have been more techno in the mix, and it would have been nice if the backup teams for the eliminations didn't have to be right in front of the speaker stack

I'll have to try and get back to be a mentor for my team next year.

On behalf of Area 53, my team had an amazing time at the Chesapeake regional. We feel fortunate to have been chosen by extremely strong teams - 173 and 1027 - for an awesome alliance despite our ranking after the qualifying matches - we're glad you were out there scouting! We really enjoyed competing with you all and it really was a pretty unforgettable competition (121 points?!?!).

This was a personally rewarding experience for me as well, having come to Maryland for a co-op in January and becoming involved as a college student/mentor and coach with a team that has some of the most hard-working students and supportive mentors that I have encountered,

My team thought this competition was extremely well-run thanks to the organizers, volunteers, and of course the hosts at the Naval Academy. We were also really impressed with the good sportsmanship that was displayed by the teams.

On a side note, one of the mentors on 1027 mentioned that they might not be able to attend nationals because of insufficient funds. That would be a shame, and hopefully they will be able to secure a sponsor and compete in Atlanta - and get their donuts!

You know, you're right. Not a great place. I will add it to my notes. Thanks.

Personally i think it would be an injustice if they were not able to attend nationals. They are a great team and deserve to be there. Good luck to team 1027 in the search for funds. I hope you guys pull through

Re: 2005 Chesapeake Regional

Team 900 had a great time even though we lost a radio about 15 seconds into the first round and lost, had a great alliance in the second round (173 and 122) and won, had reversed joysticks the third round and tied, but in the 4th round we hit a large bump in the road. We sheared our shifting shaft for our custom 2 speed transmission. We were out for the 4th, 5th and 6th rounds and lost. The 7th round we were out but we helped our allies with the 10pt end zone bonus and won. Just before the 8th round we finished remaking our shifting shaft and were frantically putting it back on the bot. We got it back on in time and also got our arm completed. We were able to help our allies (1054 and 22 i think but not completely sure) and win the match. Thanks to them in there helping us and supporting us during our frenzy to get working

Also team 1027 was an awesome pick, and we were lucky to get them as they were number 2 and could have declined if they had wanted to. I was the alliance captain out on the field, yes I know they are 1027 not 1071 like i had said. I still don't know why I said 1071, and I know my team won't let me live that down any time soon I am sure. But ultimately all of the team at the regional were amazing, and extremely good competitors.

Actually i was extremely surprised...until while we were on the field before the semifinal match. i was joking around with one of the rage kids (he had a soul patch) giving each other our fake team strats...and i asked him why you guys didn't pick buzz and picked 53 instead. You did have good reasoning, but i still can't see it. It's been bothering me that a) they weren't picked in the first round of alliance selections and b) they didn't last long enough for us to pick them second. Ah well, you guys obviously knew what you were doing. Fantastic job.

As a member of Buzz this came as a surprise to me as well. Mostly because 1027 said they wanted us in the alliance and as far as i know tried to get us. Despite that we ended up on a great alliance and gave the champions (who definatly deserved it) a run for their money.

Re: 2005 Chesapeake Regional

53 was fast, fast at capping, and had a good driver. Even though they weren't that stable / defensive they could stay home and get 3-4+ caps a round. We were scouting them as well and we could tell they were good we just went through a lot of problems and ended up not being picked, but congratulations to everybody

Before it gets to long away from the regional Team 1027 would like to thank Team 686 for letting us use the pnematic materials during the finals, they saved our chances and allowed us to go onto win.

You know Jon K. I think I was suprised you guys picked team 53 and.. im on team 53!!!!

Id like you say thank you to the scouts at 173 and 1027, thanks for looking out! You guys also had two of the strongest bots on the field!

And congrats to everyone who had a robot that moved. Having a robot out on the field playing the game shows a teams true success. The challenge is to build a robot in 6 weeks, not win a regional!! I think everyone acomplsihed something they never dreamed they could do.. now onto another matter,

where are my doughnuts...

Good luck in ATL everyone!!!!

Does anyone have a full ranking of the regional? I was wondering how our friends from Manville, team 1048 did, and how everyone else stood.

Team 1048 was the second backup team. That means the were seeded somewhere around 25th.

Not necissarily, depending on if you were actually higher, and just not picked to be in an alliance, I know someone said they were like 15th and didn't get picked......

You are correct. It is quite possible. I was just guessing, but they were the second backup team.
