I have a tracker on our team's website.
AiW is my shorthand for ATI's multimedia video card, the All-in-Wonder. I have Dazzle DVC-80, and it works pretty well, except the highest rez is 352x288. That's not large enough. I'm sure I/we can make an MPEG1 video using TMPGEnc. I just have to figure out how to encode from MPEG2 to XviD. I belive now that the problem is when the recording has dropped frames around the beginning. When I encode the video, it dosn't keep spaces where they should be, and the video speeds up. |

I should be getting a JVC MiniDV camera very soon, and since I can't seem to figure out how to convert these MPEG-2 files, I'm thinking of just recording to the camera from a VCR, or something like that.

I have TV-Wonder card
I could set it up to record to mpeg @ 8 mbit/s, and transcode to divx (5.2.2?) @ ~1000 kbit/s The card's output is a little (really, just a little) washed out, if I have time tommarow, I could tune it a bit. The encoding will take approx 2x the total video, and my connection is 144kbit (IDSL) It would take a while to get to whomever will host the file (via BT, or other) The encoding should be visually lossless, unless you actually pause the video and put your face up to the screen. 2 questions: is it legal? and Who will host the tracker? |

I can host the video on my teams website, we have the bandwith capacity for lots of downloads at once.
..and some people dont use bit torrent. |

So, I was on the TV guide for Directv, and the NASA channel does not have anything FIRST related on the directory for the Kick Off day. Am I simply crazy and not seeing it, or what? :confused:

A BitTorrent of the webcast would be awesome... i HATE streaming video with a passion, and i just happen to be working when the kickoff is... even tho 1075 is not competing this year, i'm staying involved with FIRST... I'll be at the GT Regional sporting full 1075 wear ;)... either that or volunteering.

I've purchased a MiniDV camcorder with AV input. I'm going to use that, since my computer just can't handle recording with anything else at that quality.

I use Dr. DiVX... it works, more one touch instead of the horrendous multi-step-each-one-needs-you-to-be-there-and-takes-hours that GK is...
As for out of sync-ness... no clue.... I have a TV-Wonder card. So getting source files to transcode would not be a problem at all... especially since I have dish network. |

Oh. I don't have the money to buy any software, but I'll keep that in mind. Mabe I'll DL the trial for encoding the video.
You know what, I burnt out my mom's power supply while I was trying to encode a test video. (Don't worry, I have another, and I won't runn it on the highest priority.) |

I know I'm going to capture the video onto MiniDV, and VHS. I will try to make a go/no-go tomorrow on wether I will be able encode it, based on my success with capturing and encoding a video 62:47 long.
I don't want to inconvience anybody, but if I can't get my test to work on Friday, I can't understand how I could get even half the kickoff encoded at 720x480 anytime that weekend before Sunday evening without a miricle. My copy of the files on the NTFS partition is about 2/3 complete. I need to go to bed, and I will try everything over again tomorrow morning. In response to bellow post: No Kidding. I'm also planning to capture the webcast as well. :ahh: I love doing this, but it makes my head hurt. I plan on recording the broadcast to DVD but I'm not sure of what use it will be after that. As for the webcasts, there are multiple places serving NASA TV over the web and all the streams look pretty good right now. They may get bogged down on kickoff but teams remember, if for whatever reason you canot get a broadcast, there is always the option of webcast. Just search Google for "NASA TV Webcast" and you should find lots of sources.

I only used about 700MB per 35 minutes. or about 4 gig or so. I too Will be recording off my satellite to VCR then when I get back from kickoff it will be converted to digital onto my website and my team's site (links below) I will have multiple sizes and qualities and if wanted I could burn to DVD within a few days for a small fee ( price of DVD ) then send to you. With my testing I used mid quality and after recording for that long my laptop turned off for some reason but the video was all saved correctly and synchronized. So expect to see high quality video on my site probably by Sunday night. |
