Re: NASA TV Satellite Feed

I'm talking about the DV files captured from my camera. There huge.

I'm defragging my partition now, and I should finish my test video tomorrow.

Goodnight.

NASA puts up a recording for download?

Then why bother? I think that a few days for a few teams isn't worth the trouble of capping, encoding, and distrubting.

Well, some people might want a higher quality video than NASA's video or if their servers are being slow....eh, forget that thought. But if I remember from last year the video quality wasn't the greatest, just ok/good.

I'm doing the digitalizing for myself to have a hard copy, non erasable version for reference and part of my digitalizing all FIRST stuff myself, as much as I can.

If everything works out, I should have a fairly high quality wmv available by the end of the day (about 800MB/hour). I use snapstream and a WinTVPVR, but I've never done the wmv encoding for such a long program. I don't know if WPI will have the NASA TV feed working yet, so I may just end up with two hours of the WPI bulletin board. Click on the "Zan Hecht" in my sig to email me if you want the link when it is ready. Please only email me if you will be distributing the file to others. I have a fast upload speed, but WPI gets angry if I tranfer too much data.

Re: NASA TV Satellite Feed

I have awakend, and now I'm capturing again onto my NTFS partition.

I'll see if it crashes in about ten minutes.

EDIT

I'm at 4,305,458KB, and it's still increasing. :]

EDIT2

Ok, I have captured the file, and I am encoding using XviD. (VDub) If I have time, I will also try DivX, and WMV.

I've tried, and tried, and tried, but I just can't encode this DV video.

I'll get back to you about a VCD-res MPEG-1. I might also try downloading the Dr. DivX trial.

For those concerned with the NASA TV broadcast schedule not listing the kickoff ... the NASA site here has two separate programming schedules. The "standard" Daily NASA Television Programming Schedule doesn't show anything about FIRST, but the Live Events, News and Special Event Programs schedule shows the FIRST Kickoff broadcast at 10-12:30, then replayed again at 2-4:30. My PVR is set, but I don't have a good or easy way to retrieve it digitally.

I don't know a whole lot about this stuff but there is a program out there called FX video converter. Maybe someone will find it useful for something.

It's a no-go for me this weekend. I'll still have the tapes, but I won't have a digital video for a while. :(

Dont worry about it, others will have it digitalized and NASA will have it on their site.

I'm off to bed to get up for our remote. See ya all somewhere...
