What holidays do you decorate for?
I know a lot of people celebrate a lot of holidays, but what holidays do you decorate for?
Sure a lot of people have a Christmas tree, or some lights for Winter time, but what other holidays do you actually decorate for? I would have to say in order of the most decorations per day for my house is: Christmas (2 4x8 floor boards in my attic are full of Christmas stuff) That's my mom's holiday, she started that decoration collection, I just added to it. Halloween (only 1 4x8 board in the attic. - for now.. :p ) That's my favorite holiday, seeing as all my B-Day parties were Halloween related growing up because I was born the day before Halloween. and then by a long shot St. Patricks Day Easter 4th of July Valentines Day These last 4 I don't really make it a point to decorate for, I just found the stuff to decorate for those holdays as I was cleaning the attic. |
Re: What holidays do you decorate for?
My mom decorated for EVERYTHING back home... Hannukah, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Valentines Day, St. Patrick's Day, Thanksgiving, etc etc
Me, on the other hand? I won't be decorating for anything |
Re: What holidays do you decorate for?
I decorate for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween. I always use to help my parents decorate for everything, but now I have gotten a lot busier with my life.. I try hard to at least help decorate for Christmas because it is one of my favorite holidays and that is one of the holidays my family really likes too. :D

Re: What holidays do you decorate for?
At both homes my Mom and Stepmom decorate for everything. In my dorm mostly just Christmas and Halloween. At halloween we have a decorating contest between the halls because the little kids in town come trick or treating through the dorms. Other than that I don't decorate for a specific holiday. I have Christmas-like lights up in my dorm year around.
Unless kickoff counts as a holiday cause I have all my robotics stuff up on one wall of my dorm and I guess that counts for decoration. :D ~Allison |
Re: What holidays do you decorate for?
I usually put up a tree for Christmas, and I sometimes get teased by my friends because a lot of my ornaments are old and faded, and way old-fashioned, but I love them because they are the same ornaments we put on our tree when I was little, and I can still remember how magical they seemed when I would place them on the tree back then. Just don't ask me what month the tree comes down in...

I've kept my tree up 'till early March more than once. It gives me a chance to run my Lionel trains a while longer before I pack them away for the summer. It's difficult to take down a tree without stepping on or damaging the trains so I just leave the tree in place. Plus it looks the best when the trees lights cast a soft glow on the trains (I'm able to run three separate trains at once) and the village under the tree the trains are running through. |

Re: What holidays do you decorate for?
My family usually decorates for every holiday a little bit back home. Christmas is a HUGE part of us..... the inside, outside. ALL of it is overwhelming from our German heritage. 6,7,8+ trees a year in the house we decorate.
At my apartment, the tradition has only carried on. Last year I decorated for every holiday. Valentine's day the walls were plastered in hearts (room appx 28' x 10'). This year, the living room and dining room is a constant theme of a Tiki Lounge, then every season the Tiki Lounge till be "themed". Pumpkins in the fish tanks, Santa hats on the fish, etc, etc. |
