Re: Neat & Organised Electric Wiring
There is really no skill involved in doing this, just time and patience like I said. I must also say that this was not just an effort on my part. 3 or 4 students helped me with this over 2 days (one of whom had helped the two previous years and was really doing most of the work). Either way, alot of cutting and recutting was involved. They say measure twice and cut once, but sometimes twice is not enough ;)
Everything is monster cable (4 and 8 gauge). The 4 gauge was chosen simply because it is more flexible than the 6 gauge we get in the kit and is easily found at good guys, circuit city, best buy, frys, or any other car audio equipped store. The 8 gauge is used for the same reason really. The connectors are also available at the same places but are not really necessary or recommended. They are designed for 10 gauge and really don't fit over the actual 10 gauge monster cable. The connectors are also just a tad too wide for my liking when mounted under the victor screws. We will probably just be using heavy duty ring style and spade style crimp connectors next year (with solder and heat shrink of course). You guys should pay more attention to teams like 207, 60, and others. They really set the bar even higher than we do. Their wiring is just overlooked because everything else on their robot is so pretty. |
