Re: Additional hint?
Well take the logo...
Amethyst=purple The closest thing to purple is the red triangle. Now in the clue we have Pi, and 2 baseball players. Pi could be the circle (although other posts have disputed this), and the baseball players could represent the diamond/square. That leaves the triangle, thereby supporting the pyramid idea. |

Re: Official 2005 Clue Thread
You can do anything to an image that you want . . .
So long as the right people don't find out ^_^ Really though, if you want to alter the FIRST logo to see if you can see anything in it, do so. Just don't post it anywhere. Unless the results are really interesting. Then you'd have to share them with us. But the FIRST logo restrictions are in place so that they have a recognizable logo. It's smart marketing. The restrictions are there so that if you have the logo posted anywhere that it will be seen (pamphlet, website, t-shirt) people will see the logo and say, even subconsiously, "I know that logo! Weeeeeeee!" If people go about changing the logo and then distributing it, the same effect doesn't happen. But keep in mind, everyone here is already addicted to FIRST. We don't need to be brand-brainwashed any more than we are. ^_^ So if you think you could find something hidden in the logo, go for it. Filter it all you want. |

Well there are a few clues here. As "Pi" is the 16 letter in the greek alphabet and you take the first letters in between "you" and "me" from the greek alpahabet you get "xi", "upsilon" and "omikron" which mean "put", "box", and "off".
Thus more looking at the triple plays there were only 12 ever recorded. If you follow the order in which they are done, they are all the same. The colours from both team are also red white and blue. Between "you and me" is fair to say that there will be two robots facing off against each other. What does this all mean???? Both robots will start off on opposing ends and must go to the centre of the arena where they will come to a pilar. The pilar will drop the balls(as in the triple play you must catch the ball in order for a successful out) and you must drop it in a box(xi), (as in touching the base for a second out). Next you must drop the ball in a moving container(trying to out the player running to second). I'm not sure about the other parts but that is some idea and also the colours are more than likely going to represent different balls for different scoring points. The 12 triple plays could aslo mean there are only 12 balls. The fastest one to do so may be the winner in that task. The playing field can also suggest(with help from the forums :)) that with the beatles and the music you get a triangle. Greeks are famous for triangles and pythagorean's theorm. Also you can look at greek number system and symbols(like as in pi representing a number in ancient greek math 80 or 16 not sure). Hope this helps anyone build on any ideas |
wouldn't it be awesome if the robots had to stack blocks (like LEGOS!! :)) to make a pyramid...
fun! |

What do you mean, all of the triple plays are in the same order? Is that total triple plays, or unassisted triple plays? And where did you get those meanings for those words? --Petey |
Re: Official 2005 Clue Thread
ok ive been lookin at the first logo for like an hour trying to figure out just wut the heck it all means. And i can only come up with this:
I had some ametyst colored lenses that i took out of a disco ball ;) and saw pretty much nothing... but i did see the letter X in the middle... the old logo did not have that in the middle of the circle. The triangle and square are closer together to form and X. Well an X in baseball denotes a strike..X marks the spot... the circle is the last scoring position at the end of the game. Or the X means this is "out of bounds" or something. I also looked at the logo through some 3D lenses and saw some pretty cool stuff.. When i looked through the lenses i noticed that the red triangle changed to a purple triangle quite frequently... maybe this signifies something here. This is prolly goin out on the limb but im just speculating on the logo post... |
Re: Official 2005 Clue Thread
this also kinda goes with the riddle... something between pi, you, and me... Well pi is the circle, and the red and blue alliances... X is between the circle!

Re: Official 2005 Clue Thread
Anyone who has been following this thread has probably seen many links to various ideas involving circles, triangles (pyramids), and squares (baseball diamond). However, I do not recall any post suggesting that those various shapes could all be scoring objects of varying points and difficulty to obtain and/or score.

Re: Official 2005 Clue Thread
I haven't read each and every post on this thread, so maybe I missed it if someone else has already thought of some of this........................
There was a baseball player named Pi Schwert. He was a catcher for the Yankees. Short baseball career, but later he went into politics. Perhaps the "Pi" in the clue isn't just our friendly 3.14. Now how about that "between Pi, You and Me"..................... If we consider Neun and Burns to be together at their usual 1st base position and Schwert at homeplate, what is between? a "runner"? a "baseline"? Or if we consider first base as position 1 and Pi as position 3 (third base), we have the pitcher or pitching mound between. I agree with all those folks claiming there are also several hidden 3's and 6's in the clue. oh well. it was fun to think about anyway. see you on the field! Angelina |
