Trouble with gear box

We assembled a gearbox, applied power and discovered that the Waldes retainer washer sits on the CIM motor shaft such that is "scored" the large gear. It appears the retainer is a fraction larger than the diameter of the motor shaft. No real damage but we are concerned. We followed the assembly directions to the letter. Anyone experience the same thing? Any thoughts? Thanks for your help.

P.S. - The scoring should not hurt anything. I scored one of the gears during my initial fit verification and there was no adverse affect.

We are having a problem with our gear box. When we test run it, there's a grinding noise and we can't seem to find what the problem is. Can anyone help us figure out what it may be?

Did you grease it up?

Re: Trouble with gear box

Our gearbox made grinding noises when greased with a light (low viscosity) oil. Since lubeing it up with thick white lithium grease it sounds like a champ. Make sure that you lubricate it appropriately to ensure good efficiency and longevity.
