Can you keep up with the forum?
Looking at the amount of new posts/threads everyday, I am wondering how well people are keeping up with all the new messages. So, here is a simple poll everyone can participate in:
On a scale of 1 to 5, how well are you keeping up with the pace of the forum? Cast your votes now! |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
Very well, this forum is extremely slow compared to the only other forum I post in (Something Awful)

Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
It's pretty bad right now as posts are coming in at breakneck speed (as is expected in the build season) due the combination of Adrenalin, confusion, nervousness and curiosity.
I wouldn't want it any other way. |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I can keep up with most of the forum posts in the off seasons...
As far as during the 6 week build period, I only read or browse threads that are interesting or important. I am too busy between, class, homework, meetings, work, and sleep to read everything, however, I do check the forums many times a day. |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
It is moving quite fast. I'm keeping up with pretty much everything except camera and programming.

Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I have trouble keeping up with my favorite threads sometimes, and when a thread gets too long I may abandon it because I just can't follow all those posts and subject changes.
However, like others have said, I enjoy the high impact variety of threads that come in build season. I like to see what everyone in FIRST is thinking, and seeing them all in one place is a great way to do that. I pick and choose from the portal and other subforums. :) - Genia |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I was doing pretty good until the kick-off and then like 10,000 people posted within a 2-hour timeframe :ahh:

Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I am behind, as I will probably come across this thread and read it sometime next week. :)

Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
Actually, this forum is fairly slow paced, I like it.
You obviously can't read everything, but just check out the threads you're interested in and keep away from the chit-chat forums and you're set. Pick and choose, pick and choose. |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I can keep up pretty well, just like most other people here. I usually find the posts that interest me, or I have some knowledge on. Most of my time on these forums was spent during a class where the teacher couldn't keep up with the speed myself and some other people were doing the programming, so he let us surf until the rest of the class caught up.

Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I keep up with the topics I'm personally involved with, but I don't even try to read everything. I skim the titles in the portal a few times a day to see what sparks my interest.
|
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I keep up with them pretty well. I skim titles that come up on the portal page. If I see a title that catches my interest or something I think I can help with, I'll open the thread and see what's going on. If not, the thread slips by.

Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I skim the new posts page, skipping things that hold no interest to me (such as many game threads and obvious questions that have four replies).
It's more than I'm used to, but I'm adapting. |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I'm not doing very well, so I just look at random threads that catch my eye.
It's not a good system, but it works well enough for me. :) |
Re: Can you keep up with the forum?
I've been unable to keep up. After working 10 hours a day and then going to our teams meetings (which I miss the first half of because of work) I only have an hour or so a day to browse these forums. With so many new posts and threads (some of which are several pages long) there's no way I could read all of them. I have that feeling that I dropped the ChiefDelphi ball! :p It's bad when someone at our team's meeting asks me about a thread on here and I have no clue whay they're talking about. Since they know about how much time I normally spend on here they figure I'd know what they're talking about.
Oh well, that's what the weekends for, I have a bit of "catching up" to do. But then again, I'm also working tommorrow! |
