Woah! How long does it take for it to cap the center goal? How does your arm work?

Also have you finished all of your programming as well? What can your robot do in autonomous? Nice job getting a workable and very promising looking robot done so quickly!

Re: pic: we're done

If I am not mistaken, it looks as though you just taped some aluminum box tubing together to get that tall post for your arm. If that is so, then I think you are a little outside the size requirements.

But as far as the design (not being done) I like it. It will probably be able to cap as high as any stack will get (I think).

bah

Brendan is a new freshman on the team and doesnt undertstand how CD works yet, so forgive his newbie'ness, its just a teaser pic, more to come later

Re: pic: we're done

let me clear up some things
this is not our real robot, the arm if u look closely is held together by tape and nylon and clamps at the top, and the chasis has nothing screwed in except for the transmission, the chain is tiewrapped to the frame
we were just testing a design for our arm to see if the robot would tip over
brendan 710 put up the wrong picture, he meant for it to be a teaser but he forgot to write anything saying that it was at teaser
so once and for all this is not our real bot

Re: pic: we're done

Are you going to use a pulley system to lift the arm once you're out of the duct tape stage?

tkwetzel 18-01-2005 22:29

Re: pic: we're done

So...did it tip over easily?

UlTiMaTeP 18-01-2005 22:33

Re: pic: we're done

it fell flat on its face, were scrapping this design, we have a dozen diff robots already this is just another one of the prototypes....

danield710 18-01-2005 22:34

Re: pic: we're done

the robot tipped over so the design is scrapped but i am sure we will have an even better design to come
there will be more to come later, we will most likely put up a video or a pic after ship date or right before ship date

It looks like Brendan has learned from Mr Bill (Beatty) on how to get everybody's head spinning ;)

mmm Brendan is my brother and i told him to be careful posting on CD, but of course he doesnt take the advice. O well what are brothers for

Stormhammer 19-01-2005 19:42

Re: pic: we're done

why are you guys so sure its a crap design? you had absolutely no weight to counterbalance that arm whatsoever

danield710 19-01-2005 19:46

Re: pic: we're done

actually i dont think u can see it but we had a battery, a compressor, and a cylinder on the other side of the bot

Re: pic: we're done

I am assuming you were testing the effect of the raised tetra on your robot's center of gravity and quickly learned that it shifted far forward of your drive wheels and much higher.

Did you give any consideration to using outriggers to stabilize the robot during the lifting and capping action? One or two pneumatically supported devices extending from the front of the robot may be sufficient to keep the machine from tipping over.

Just a thought...
