Wow, shiney metal!

Re: pic: 710 Teaser

hhmm I am calling it to be a possible design for LAST YEAR that they are throwing out as a joke. I think I also see ta part of the bosch drill motor mounts in the backround, just the right... we didn't get those this year ;), with no drills and all

edit:
oh oh oh, I also think that the plywood it is on is the wood from the stationary goals last year... the base, although that could be kept around till this year, just another thought...

Re: pic: 710 Teaser

As you can tell by the holes in the gears, it obviously is going to sheer the instant you try to pck it up,let alone put it in a gear set up.

I think the shinyness of the metal can directly relate to the speed of the output shaft since the tortional rate will warp the reflective power of the metal. why must you make me think once again harder than ever!

I'd say that they are tetra manipulators yet to be tested.

Re: pic: 710 Teaser

those are not drill mounts, those are bearing mounts to support it on the frame :) (notice the bearing is the same size as the half a hole....

Eh.. I still think it is from last year ;)
I don't think the gear will shear... my team has used many like it.
Also, I think it is a pretty beefy design to put on the end of an arm for a tetra manipulator.

I am sorry, but all they did was take weights out of the sprocket... thats not a gear. there is nothing wrong with it and it wont break unless you up a LOT of torque on that one sprocket itself. On top of the sprocket there is a shaft coller which I am assuming they will bolt it on the sprocket and run the shaft through the collar.

Your making me crack up, a martin heat treated/oil dipped sprocket rated it 32,000 pounds tensile strength is going to sheer and break? youve got to be kidding

Well, not quite. I come from the future and have the advanced knowledge of knowing what is going to happen. Please do not deny my knowledge

well, this drive module , which was used last year, seemed to hold up pretty well. but then again, the similarities might just be superficial.

Yes this is from my team last year (710) design. We used it to climb the two platforms. I will try to dig up some old photos of it. I am curious to see what they might use it for my brother wont tell me anything.....he is lucky i am in orlando ;)

Re: pic: 710 Teaser

LoL Pete crazy as always :-) Yeah the sprokets won't shear, didn't shear, and in FIRST applications i'll shake your hand if you shear it.. There were a couple of other problems.. but thats besides the point

heh I'd laugh if they were using something like that again.. that would be classic :-)
