Help!! trouble finding materials!

We spent all afternoon looking for the box tubing we are going to need this year and were unable to find anything bigger than 6"x6" with a .125 wall unless it came in 2ft. sections. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a dealer that has the following aluminum box tubing extrusions:

7"x7"x60" with .125 wall or close to it
5"x5"x60" with .125 wall or close to it
3"x3"x60" with .125 wall or close to it

The only other setback is we need a place that we can either drive to, or have them ship to us in under 3 days. Our team (Team 521) is based out of Waterford Connecticut. Which is South-eastern (close to Rhode-island)

If anyone knows of a supplier it would be greatly appreciated, thank you ! :)

Looks like you can get 3x3x.125 and 4x4x.125 here http://www.onlinemetals.com/merchant.cfm?id=69&step=2 and here http://www.metalsdepot.com/products/...e=tube&LimAcc=

EDIT: I can't find anything larger than 4x4 even locally at our GIANT metal supplier Industrial Metal Supply. Perhaps you want to look into using sheet and then bending it up. You should be able to get the three bends, but the fourth side may need to be a separate piece that gets welded in/on.

Sounds like someone is building an extension!

www.onlinemetals.com has some of the sizes you mentioned. I'm not sure about shipping or availability.

www.mcmaster.com also has a size. Those guys will get just about anything to you next day. We joke that "they're so fast, you order it, and it pops out of your CD-ROM."

I know I live on the other side of the country, but at our Pacific Industrial Supply, i think i might have seen some larger than 7" by 7", but it is all steel and has walls at least .25 or .375.

I know out here we had to go to boeing surplus to get 3" by 5" aluminum tubing with .125 walls for a practice robot. Try a local surplus place, you never know what treasure you may find.

we checked 2 of our local industrial supply surplus stores and dint find too much, but i think tomarow we may send some one to go drive arround and see what they can dig up.

Has anyone ever ordered custom extrusions if so where from and roughly how much did it cost?

According to their web page Eastern Metal Supply (www.easternmetal.com) makes 7" X 7" X 0.156" and 5" X 5" X 0.125" as stock items. The first problem is that both come in 24 foot lengths. The second problem is that their nearest location is in North Carolina.

Your best bet is to contact them and ask if they know of a distributor in your area who might have it in stock or know of a distributor who might be willing to cut and ship it.

Good luck. Getting this stuff quick isn't going to be easy.
