Airfare for nationals

Has anyone tried getting airline tickets for nationals yet? We'll we have. Seems you cannot purchase more than 7 at a time or the price will almost double! We've called Delta and USAir and they seems to have the same policy. Any recommendations?

When you call them, say you're a school group, most will then let you buys more (we have 40) or at least take a school sport team discount. Sometimes you might have to split your group (especially since it's spring break for high schools, we have to on the way back) but tell them it's a group reservation for school that should change the price, or at least make it go down at bit. Also depends on WHEN you are traveling. We've booked flights Tuesday night going down together, and Sunday morning, split coming back. If you're traveling during peak hours, they might make the price go up. We reserved flights once we knew we were going to Atlanta, in November or December. The earlier the better.

We have already secured our airfare through AirTran. You just need to make sure that you do it as a group. You will probably have to either call the airline or go through a travel agent to do this. Many times (and it was true for us this time), the individual ticket prices are actually less when purchased as part of a group than if you just purchased 20 individual tickets. Good Luck!

Love having nationals at home. As stated before, if you simply explain to the airline what your situation is, chances are they'll hook something up with you. Probably better if you ask for the manager.

We haven't really decided on how to travel. Air fare would run roughly $200 per person from out area...We have looked into driving (10-12 or more hours), or renting a charter bus to go on. We're deciding withing a week or so.

The sooner the better. Charter buses can run in the thousands of dollars for your trip.

Guys when booking airfare make sure the airline you are booking on is not in chapter 11 if the airline goes out of business you will lose you money.
