Re: team 909

Kudos for getting your first website up.
I agree that the layout looks good, its got a few spacing things that could be tweaked but overall it is an excellent start. Keep up the good work!

You always have a chance, and even if you don't recieve a website award its still worth trying. Our website has become a valuable team resource, keeping current calendars of meetings and events for members and those interested to reference to. Also it helps provide information about our team - What FIRST is, what our team is about, team history, and our current status.

Our website has also become an asset to our team for fundraising as well as getting corperate and community interest. It gives companies somewhere they can go to learn more and see what it is your team is achieving as well as it gives you a place to recognize the sponsors that make your team possible.

Re: team 909

excellent layout and general design. I especially like the floating pictures that pop up when a mouse drags over the smaller version. good color scheme and design.

Re: team 909

I like the design. Simple and easy.. just the way I like it :) You might want to check spelling and grammar.. I spotted 'Calender' on there and a few other mistakes.

Re: team 909

It looks like it's a nice, clean website, but it is broken in my web browser (Mozilla Firefox). It looks like it is an issue with the floated boxes, your CSS file has "float:center;" in it but there is no such thing as center floating according to the CSS 2.1 spec. Maybe that's part of your issue?

By the way, did you use a WYSIWYG program like Dreamweaver for that?

evulish 27-01-2005 02:25

Re: team 909

Looking over the code, you're trying to use the XHTML transitional DTD, but the page is very _not_ XHTML. If you'd like to make it conform, say something and I can help you with it.. if not, I don't feel like writing it all out, since it does work (even though it's not standards compliant).

Re: team 909

thanks for all the comments ...
and also thank you for pointing out those errors
since I'm learning for these thing for the first time as I'm going along ... I have to say I'm not that professional on CSS.
I would really appreciate if you could help me out ...?

Re: team 909

did you code everything there, like the forum and stuff as well?

it looks nice, but I could do without the popup pictures and the weird overlays (Firefox doesn't like that)

Re: team 909

sorry for the delay ...
i was working on the website ... now every thing should be fine even in firefox ...

about the cdawzrd's question : of curs not ... it would have taken me 2-3 month to do that ... i just used ready-to-use programs ... but since i wanted the same lay out in every page you might not be able to find what they are ...

Re: team 909

Awesome looking website, very aesthetically pleasing. Nice, clean and simple. I love it :D

Sponsors is spelt wrong btw on the navigation bar:P

I'm being picky here but do you really think MAIN should be in the middle? I know you must be trying to do something different but when I want to goto the homepage i automatically move my mouse to the left corner of the screen. Maybe it's just me, probably need some getting used to.

Overall, I'm loving it :D

ahmad 02-02-2005 16:07

Re: team 909

WOW ... thank you for all the nice talk ... you are absolutely not picky ... I'm like that too ... the sponser's mistake and some other typos that i had has to do with the fact that I'm not very good in spelling (in general: english)

but the menu ... I know It's not normal ... that's why I wanted to be diffrent ... ( I wanted a sense of symmetry) so I'm not sure if I'll chang that

if there was anything else ... please don't hesitate to say ... thanks again

Re: Team 909 Website

Nice job....

I like the main in the middle of the menu. It's a cool touch and it mates well with the logo above it. It also ties in with Lawrence, KS being in the center of the country. However, it took me a few readings to determine where you were actually located. My two suggestions are to make it easier for the user to find your geographic location and to add some contact information. I could not find where or how to contact you.

Re: Team 909 Website

I like the design a lot, just the fact that it is simple and fast to load helps out.

The only thing I might suggest for improvement or change would be that you maybe in addition to giving the FIRST logo, maybe at a link to the FIRST website or a "What is FIRST?" section.

Other than that, great job on your first website.

Re: Team 909 Website

The script you got from http://www.dyn-web.com/ that you put on your images where on mouse over it shows the larger pic, and a title is not very compatible w/ firefox (i'm using ver.1 on windows xp home) here's what i mean...

http://www.ozanweb.com/help/team909help.png

as you can see 1) it goes off the page, 2) the text and the image breaks through the white background.

nice website though.

I loved the layout guys, great work. Our website is still in the works, you have no idea how much coding I have to do in php to get that website to do the simplest things.

ugh :)
