Latest Car Models
Heres the latest of my model car collection... I need some way to wind down from the stress of the build season, you know :p
'59 Cadillac Eldorado : ![]() (I've only re-arranged the springs in the suspension so far... big plans for this one) '96 Chevy Impala : ![]() ![]() (The exhaust is off because I'm switching it with the Ram below) '03 Ram Quad-Cab : ![]() ![]() ![]() (Redrilled the axel holes, sits lower on the right and higher on the right than it came... hittin' sides!) And here is my latest/most serious project... an '05 Chevy SSr : ![]() (Completely shaved, will be body dropped, flat black paint, steelies/white walls... project New Old School :D ) The whole lot of them : ![]() Comments? |

Re: Latest Car Models
Thanks.
The Dub City cars are pretty stock, I just play with the 'suspensions' mostly... I did shave the doors on the Grand National though... I'm currently looking for parts for the SSr... wheels/tires, spotlight, moon tank, etc. |
Re: Latest Car Models
Do those come with "primer" already on them? I think that looks cool in primer :p I can't imagine what it will look like when you are done! Great job!

When they paint htese at the 'factory', they just use a gloss paint over the metal, no primer. When you're filling in lines and using body filler (thats what the orange stuff is on the SSr) you spray primer as a 'guide coat' it lets you see all the high/low spots that need sanding or more filler. Just a little trick to get it glassy smooth... use it on my real cars all the time :D |
Re: Latest Car Models
LED's? In the proper light holes or in a creative way? (A line under the whole outside of the vehicle as side Neons?)
Plush interior? DICE? :D Custom Graphics? Maybe a special edition 4x4 muddy one? (May I suggest...;)) If the hoods open to expose the engine - paint the engine? Tons of ideas - just look a little harder! :) |
Re: Latest Car Models
Those look beautiful. Great work. At first, I thought this thread was a discussion about newly released cars... On that subject, I was at University of Cambridge in England from 1/12-1/17 and saw a 2005 Bentley Continental GT during that time parked out in front of King's College. It was soooo elegant. Granted, it couldn't do lowrider tricks ;)

Re: Latest Car Models
for the moon tank and steelies you might want to look at your local TRU (toys r us). i think it's an american muscle set(not sure exactly) that makes a line of t-buckets in the right scale that should have all the rat rod/ vintage parts you're looking for.
the cars look great...gave me some ideas for the '50 wagon i've been thinking of doing |
Re: Latest Car Models
Thanks for the replys, guys.
I was wondering if I could find the wheels/tank in one of those little kits I've seen. Never really looked at them... will have to do that next time I hit up Meijer! Thanks! :D |

Re: Latest Car Models
I bought a Jesse James Ford *shutter* coupe and ganked the wheels and other misc parts off it... heres a pic of the test fitting :
I have a feeling this is going to look excellent :D (btw, its 2:40am and I have to be up at 7:15, sweet!) |
Re: Latest Car Models
White wheels...intresting choice...
I say your paint choice has to be a good one now. To me you have to have the right color car with white wheels, but I think you'll get something good goin'. Get a ZJ Jeep (er, Grand Cherokee 1993-1998 model) and make a mud look with a winch in the fron and large 32" tires, and... :D |
Re: Latest Car Models
I think I'm gonna go for the classic rat rod color... flat/matte black :D
As for the jeep... sounds like a good dea, I've done a ot of lowered cars, so a lifted one might be interesting... |
