Re: 7.2 Volt Battery
No you can use any 7.2 volt 700mA NiCd battery that you can fit to the proper connectors. Though you can buy them for $15 through IFI at http://www.ifirobotics.com/edu-electrical.shtml

Re: 7.2 Volt Battery
More accurately, you can use _any_ 7.2 volt NiCad battery pack. This means that if you wanted to, you could just a much higher capacity pack. You are not limited to 700mAh. While we aren't opting for it, it would probably be useful if you plan on testing with your camera system a lot. I have happen to have a 3300mAh pack, which I think is about the highest capacity you can readily find. The drawback is a higher weight penalty. I can imagine having a high capacity battery for nonmatch work, and the lighter kit supplied pack for matches.
Check out hobby shops, 7.2v packs are a standered among R/C cars. A car sized pack will cost you around 20 dollars from a shop, depending on the capacity and quality. You can find them cheaper online if you don't mind waiting a while to get it and using generic brands. -Andy A. |
Re: 7.2 Volt Battery
You can order a battery pack from Digikey in any configuration and any amp/hr you choose.
