MPLAB on Linux

It seems to be working fine with CrossOver office.

I was able to install the C18 compiler through Wine but the IDE complains because IE is not installed. I'll try installing IE. However, there may be a way to play with the registry and trick the MPLAB installer into thinking that IE is installed.

I have it running well, but it's very hard to troubleshoot your problem if you don't tell us what it is. Error messages/symptoms/problems? I don't use the IDE, just wine for the compiler and a few makefiles (thanks jdong!)

Works great for me.

The newest CrossOver has IE 6 compatibility. If you install IE via CO you should be able to install at least MPLAB 6.00. Thats what I have discovered so far..

But if I try to execute it, the boot splash freezes. *shame*

Well wince the compiler works fine under wine/cedega/crossover why not just use a native Linux IDE like kdevelop and point the C compiler to wine /path/to/mcc.exe? Personally I really dont like the MPLAB IDE.

Just use Makefiles & MCC through WINE. That way, you can program with your favorite Linux tool, whether it be KDevelop or vim.
