I was wondering what are you going to buy/do for your special someone on valentines day?
Guys what would you like to get or not get?, keep it nice and at least PG rated,
Girls what would you like to get, or not get from your special someone?

All I want for Valentine's Day is a big turnout at my school's V-Day Dance...
The team is putting it together, and we get to keep the profits. So I hope a lot of people come!

On a more on-topic note, I like stuffed animals. Soft and fluffy ones. :D

You can't go wrong with flowers! ... Unless you get her flowers she doesn't like... or if she's allergic to them. :yikes:

I haven't gotten him anything yet... I'm going shopping in Milwaukee this weekend, though.

Personally, I'm looking forward to a nice dinner and a movie* ... hopefully the boyfriend will catch on! ;)

here is a idea that came from outside the box. last year my girlfriend and her best friend got me and my friend Adam beta fishes, at first it was kinda odd but I still have the fish and I thought it was a cool gift that I would have never thought of.

Its going to be kinda of like a rewwrad for not wasting money on a gf, as i have for the past like 5 years.

I am saving up for a motorcyle and saving about $150 dollars this v-day is going to be great

Hey always works if u stick to the classics...A stuffed animal and a box of chocolates. Just so cheesy that everyone loves it :D Leaves more time to plan for robotics that way too ;)

I'll be buying some 5/32" Allen Wrenches, and some 7/16" Hex. Hopefully we won't need any gears or bearings, but you never know...

Ohh wait... you meant what am I buying for my girlfriend?

I told her: "If you expect anything on Valentine's day, you're sorely mistaken." Maybe she'll get something AFTER the 6-weeks. ;)

For my bf, I was going to give him my stuffed monkey (inside joke) and rip out the back and shoving something in there... mebbe a ring? or something neat. W/e I decide, I know it'll consist of a LOT of sparklies b/c sparklies make life worth living. :D

Actually, I don't know...I'm gonna do a secret admirer thing and give a couple roses to friends of a girl and have them give them to her and let her guess who they are from (we aren't dating [yet], so this would be fun for me).

Eh we were just talking about this and most of us feel that it is a pointless holiday - a "hallmark holiday", made only to make money.

There's no reason to create a holiday to buy things for the ones you love. :)

i'm getting my husband (our robot) a nice paint job. and yes, the whole team knows that i have officially "divorced my social life and married the robot" (i suspect that our robot is cheating on me with peter though...)

but what would i like? tulips would make my day. (stuffed animals = blah b/c i have asthma/allergies...) but i'm not getting anything ANYWAY.
SO i'm boycotting v-day (done this since 8th grade) and celebrating by wearing all black.



oh and i love how kyle told the guys to keep it PG rated but said nothing to the girls. =P

I don't really care about V-Day.

yea I totally agree, the holiday is just a scheme for money. people get way too into it

Like Eugenia said.. the day after is so much better. everything is half off! buy your chocalate then ;) plus my birthday is the day after so thats another plus for me :)

Man, time flies by when you are sitting in a science classroom at school (10 degrees below 0) :ahh:

Well, this year I KNOW exactly what I want (you ready? Write this down):

1) Sleep
2) More time to finish my floor plan and front elevation in Drafting class.
3) Better driving skills
4) A sleeping tent for Friday night ... going to camp out at school (looong night)
5) A good turn out at our team's scrimmage this Saturday!
6) Staying single for a WHILE longer! Love it! :D

There is no such thing as Valentines Day. I don't know about anyone else but i will be celebrating Love your robot day in it's entirety on Feb. 14th :D

But beyond humerous holiday specials quoting, I don't care too much for the day. All it really is is an excuse for candy, card, and miscellaneous gift companies to make money off other people's feelings. I mean, if you really care about someone, you should be showing them your love anyway. If this means a cute gift, you should be doing it anyway, not wait until the middle of February.

Plus, those candies infringe on a common FIRSTer pet peeve:

"Hey, letters like 'U' and 'R' can mean words, like 'you' and 'are'!"

I got my valentine some Synthetic 5w-30 oil and cleaned her out.

She sparkles and purrs really nice...
