Re: Coolest 'Bot Carts

I was wondering if anyone had pictures of Truck town thunder's last years cart? Also I was hoping to see some pics of their cart this year if there are any. I hope they built an awsome cart this year and are going to nationals, I would really like to see it. Also If anyone can answer these please do so. On their cart last year what kind of battery did they use, and how'd they keep it from going dead so fast, since they had all the stuff on it? Also i was wondering if they were worried at all about leaving all the stuff in their cart throughout the night at regionals and nationals. Or did they take it with them for safe keeping?

one the subject of carts, i was wondering if first would allow a cart that you sit on and drive like a car. I came up with an awesome idea after the competition to make a cart to ride on and drive w/a wheel & pedals. We were thinking about making a pnuematic lift platform on it, tool storage, air hose and a sound system just so we have every thing. What i am wonder is if any of this has been banned by first because there is nothing about carts in the rules i think.

Your cart is awsome team 548. Never even knew you had speakers i nthe back. Total of 10 speakers and 2 subs thats amazing. Whoever did the fiberglass they did a great job. Having the amp recessed and capacitors recessed. Do you guys have any problems pushing that thing around seeing as its soo long and probably heavy? Ever think about putting motors on it. We're putting motors on ours. people ask us bout having to run to a match quick. That's easily solved. We are going to have it so you can loosedn up a couple screws and slide the motors back sp you can push it really fast. krhs_programmer said something about being in your cart while drivingit. I was thinking about that also. But there's that extra weight then that puts strain on the motors. and also then you have the people (like me) that would want to just take it for a spin around the pits! I still have to say that team 548 made an Outstanding cart. I hope i can talk to you guys about it at nats.

Hey thanks for the comments  Yeah we're pretty proud of our cart, it's our team icon and our team is notorious for it. Last year, the goal between regionals and nationals was to make it self-propelled but we ran into a time crunch and had other priorities to tend to. (As for the music, where do you think the rule came from? :yikes:)

It is heavy, but with the heart our team has for the cart, it is never really left to one person to move it around or guard it or anything. What I didn't mention was that it has a "horn" (people hate when we honk it) so it's never really "in the way"...

We can't really ride in it, but Matt, the student who did the fiberglass, was standing on the pneumatics last year riding it up and down while we were showing it off at the Great Lakes Regional. I have seen carts that look like small cars that kids drive around in.

Two years ago, our cart had a fog machine (where do you think the rule came from? ;) ) and when we used it, the FIRST people came out with fire extinguishers.

Yeah that's all I can really think of.

Very nice :) What regionals will you be at?

Nice collection of awards you got there - I'm impressed :) Hopefully, one day, our team will have just as many.

Dosent that contradict your earlier statement that it was as heavy as anything? So save your back on the tools to carry around a few hundred pound cart  .

Has everyone lost their insanity and sense of humor in the stressfull times of... OH CRAP ITS NIGHT BEFORE COMPETITION! I better get packing! :yikes:

I KNOW there are a few of us that have no use for that blasted camera (at least not in the current rush of Regionals and what not).

Make a cart that uses the camera to track your team jersey and follows you! :ahh: That would be amazing. That goes under my list of "Things to do when I actually have time" Haha. One of these days...
