looks cool... do you have any closeup picture of the drivetrain or just the drivetrain itself... if i could just see the drive train itself, i would probably gain some more knowledge about it... thanks... :)

I'll try to get some better shots with a decent camera next week.

Hopefully I can catch them before we start disassembling Bob.

how do you match a window motor to the drivetrain?

Sorry to contribute to reviving old threads but I haven't seen this before. It is quite interesting. The good thing about it is that I bet it is very controllable and can run all day on a single battery charge.

Alright, I'll revive it once more.

I FINALLY got some clear, nice pictures of the robot with a real camera.

Enjoy:

That is awesome (and crazy!)! When I first read about this I figured you were full of it, but now that I see it I gotta say I am really impressed :ahh: . What is the reduction with those sprockets, and how fast can you go?

Re: pic: Team 1293's Window Motor Drivetrain 2

Reduction? I dunno. (marks down on to-do list)

As for speed, we're talking slightly faster than walking. There's video at

http://www.wuscchallenge.com/windowmotor_hi.wmv

But there's already a discussion at http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...r+driv etrain, so I figure it might be the spot to go to.

You will be pushed around on the field and will have almost no toruqe, not to rag on you but last year I made a claw with the window motors and I could stop it with my hand.

My only question is why go with window motors when there are much stronger motors available? Is it just to be different...? You hit the nail on the head if that's the case :]

Oh yeahn, I wrote down somewhere to watch that movie. I think you posted it while I was incredibly close to going over my bandwidth limit. Now I will stop talking about it and go watch it.
Thanks!

wow, window motors for the drive train, that's pretty uncommon... what inspried you to go about that?

Thats from that thread Billfred linked to above.

Fortunately, this appears to have been last year. Besides, 2 Nippon-Denso motors would be illegal this year.
