Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
We here at team 1323 want to host a Halo 2 tournament @ the Sac. regional. we want suggestions on what multiplayer game modes you all would most want to play.
We are thinking of asking for 1-2 representatives from each team (the best players) to participate. 16 players per round....4 xboxs...and shown on projectors so everyone can see. any suggestions/concerns/comments would be greatly appreciated. thanks! team 1323 spirit leader, berto |
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
If you can find the room to do that, that would be cool. The pits are kinda crammed. Also, I think that it might be a good idea to askfor FIRST permission before doing anything like this... otherwise its a cool idea.
GO 1403!!! |

I'm sure you can round up at least 2 (probably many more) people from team 114 for this if it goes through :)

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
We just hosted a Halo 2 Tournament as a fundraiser. We made a marginal 350, but combined with our other fundraisers we pay for decent size of our travel cost to one regional.
Tips: -Teams - Always have team playing on projectors, TVs are too small - Use easier to play types; we used TFFA or TCTF, oddball, KOTH - Solo - Give each person their own screen - Bring your own controller: Too many people walk away with other person's I can give you more tips, but need to know if it is a fundraiser, or just for fun. Also ask some of the guys who play in regular halo tourneys. We had two of them help us set up the matches, and they were able to tell us how to run it. Golden |
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
wow what a fun idea, you guys think you could set something up at nationals too? It'd be even more fun with more people. You could have brackets and multiple sets of 4 connected xboxs. Dang that'd be awesome.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament
aroon, we should definetely plan something like that when we go to Cleveland. We need to find teams staying in the same hotels. lol.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
Right on, Right on,...
My team did a HALO2 tournament this year, we did marginal for fundraising, but it sure was fun! *cough* from what i hear, i had to work...grumble *cough* one thing i can say is make sure you preregister players and make a tournament roster sheet before!!!! like have all the teams participating email names/player tags/rank to you, and then you make brackets that are fair and just. good luck! |

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
Play Mlg style slayer punks
|
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
you guys should aslo bring custom made maps. If you guys are into the modding scene.
|
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
I gotta say, doing all swords on lockout is a very fun game mode. You should try it sometime. That being said, 1 flag ctf on Headlong is good as well.
Also all magnums with no shields. All needlers. Actually, maybe I am the only one who would enjoy all needlers. Those things are awesome. |
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
should definetly just play slayer alternating through lockout, foundation, beaver creek, ivory tower, and maybe midship. just out of curiousity do any of you play online.
|
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
I love halo 2. Anyone willing to set something like this up at the BAE Granite State Regional? I will definitely participate.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
I do but won't be at your regional. you guys should also go by MLG settings to they really do help with the unbalanced weapon array on the game.
|
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
yeah I play in alot of tourneys both lan and online. like I said use mlg settings for basic weapons which is starting weapon BR no secondary and grenades. hour time limit and if you really want to follow them by the book dq anyone who uses the sword. If you want any more info just send an FR to wilshirepossey on XBL or email me at guiltyspark3432002@yahoo.com.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
hey here's a quick update from the folks at team 1323
we will be doing 16 player team slayer matches with random maps with standard weapons. you will be able to send up to 4 players from a team and we will pair you up with another team so it will be on 8 on 8 much like FIRST runs their competitions. this way there is more of a team/alliance atmosphere. if you cannot send 4 players just send as many as you can and we will pair you with another team that doesnt have 4 players. there will be prizes to be determined. a couple of things we need input on. we cant come up with a simple and effective seeding/scoring method. any ideas? i like random personally but i dont know. also if its not too much to ask could you please bring 1 controller per team or more if you want. we should be fine on xboxs. we are planning on having it during the day at the competition so some members have something to do while the robot isnt competing. we will schedule so it wont correspond with match times. we are bringing an RV with us to use as a power source. one last thing...do you all think sign-ups on thursday would be best? thanks a lot and looking forward to you replies and seeing you at sacramento we are staying at the Hanmark Inn |
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
Assault on Zanzibar
CTF Classic on Midship Team Slayer on Coagulation |
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
 Shame on ALL of you. Halo is rated M for Mature and has all sorts of violence!!! No people should be playing violent video games It is a very bad influence, escepially for young people...
NOT :D HALO 2 ROCKS!!!! Im in all the way! Team 100 is going to bring two (hopefully) Xbox' and play other people in other hotel rooms cause we have like a 50ft ethernet cable (actually, we have 2 of them). We also got 1 headset. So, if you want to play eachother and we are staying at the same hotel, just talk 2 us in the pits! We will be staying at the very affordable Holiday Inn.... I really like the 8 vs 8 idea, but maybe incorperate a few rounds of capture the flag. Ill be thinking of ways to do the tourney.. Maybe have each team donate a small prize (like a set screw), and 50% go to the first place team, 35% to the 2nd place team, and 15% go to the 3rd place team. P.S. I bet that first paragraph woke you up!!!! P.P.S HALO 2 ALL THE WAY! P.P.P.S Im getting bored... |
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
On a side note, team 100 will probably send (EDIT) four people for the competition. We'll be practicing =)
|
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
Sigh it seems everyone will be staying at the Holiday Inn. We couldnt book that and instead we are at the Microtel Inn and Suites. :(
|
Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
is anyone staying at the hallmark inn?
i guess it is just 15 mins. walk from Davis and there is 12-screen movie theater across from it and its in downtown. it looks awesome. well see you there! |

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
Ummm, if anyone else is interested in setting up more Halo fun near/at the hotels, Team 100 has 50 feet cables for xboxes and will be open for another Halo party later on. We will have 2 Xbox's as already said, and if you are staying at the Holiday Inn or any hotel close to that, feel free to post on my thead about what Hotel you are staying at or just talk 2 me/our team in the pits.

Re: Halo 2 Tournament @ Sac. Regional
Well, I got a lot 2 say. First of all it REALLY sucked that we were notable 2 play at the event. If team 1323 is going to Silicon Valley Regional, please tell me so i can try 2 help you set up the same tourney at that regional (If you want). I can bring stuff, and help talk with the regional director. And if you are going and you cant have the tourney, please give me his contact information so i can try to talk 2 him. (I have my ways...)
On another note, I am now (unofficialy) the best player on our team so I am even more determined to help you guys get this thing going. So, anyways, please tell me if you are going to the regional and all the other stuff i mentioned. |

Thanks for your interest in our "tournament". it was good talking to you on thursday in the pits. yeah we were bummed we werent able to host the tournament. it would have been awesome to do it friday night as there was not a Team Social at all this year. we'll plan something for next year from team 1323. they probably wont let us do a halo 2 tournament at sacramento if they didnt this year tho. feel free to do one at san jose. unfortunately we will not be attending due to lack of money. no nationals this year either but next year for sure. i think it would be great to put on a tournament. we thought it would be hugely popular and a great social but our plans were shot down. good luck at san jose. |
