Strategy?

Just out of curiosity, how many teams will be using primarily an offensive or defensive strategy? Do you anticipate possibly reconfiguring your robot, or installing an alternate program, in the pit area once you know who will be in your alliance for a given "heat"? If you are a rookie team - will you be using primarily a defensive strategy? Thanks :)

We are a rookie team. Right now we dont have a specific strategy (it will depend on the driver and who is in our alliance. However we plan to be able to cap. We will also have both offensive and defensive modes in autonomous

We are going for a mix of everything. Over the years, I've found being versatile and able to change your strategy on the fly can be extremely aiding in so many different situations. It's definitely a plus to be able meet the criteria that your alliance wants you to have.

ummYES YES and YES

The ideal alliance IMHO is two mad scorers and a defender, to hinder the three opposing bots/ protect the two scorers.
If you build a bot that is robust/lowcg/good power with traction to utilize it you can be able to make the defensive offensive switch.
Its all about flexibitly.

I beleive we are easily playing both offence ad defence, but probably more offence sense we beleive we will be very effective cappers.
However, we should still be effiecent at blocking, and are looking at possible add-in peices to our bot to assist that strategy (nothing major :) )

We'll be mainly offensive. However, there is some debate as to the goal of our offensive strategy. Here's a linky, because they're cool: http://railerobotics.proboards42.com...m=1107451 595
And, of course, the great debate over those stupid corner tetras: http://railerobotics.proboards42.com...m=1107451 253

I think the best robots are all going to be able to stack a tetra. Fast tetra stackers will be covering all the towers they can as quickly as posssible. My teams robot is going to be very very strong and reasonably quick. I doubt we'll be the fastest capper, but we could be pretty quick for a standardish mechanism. What we will have is the ability to get to the tower that needs a tetra at the end of the match and cap it. Those last second caps will make the difference and can create a quick 20+ point change.
