me, im a good irishman...i know theres such a thing as luck

Carolyn Duncan 21-07-2001 21:01

Luck o' the Irish?

I believe in luck too, well maybe it's fate. Anyway, there is something out there that sets the events of the world in motion..

EddieMcD 22-07-2001 10:27

Yes. We call it Murphy's Law.

Speak for yourself, I call it "gravity" but since we're on a first-name basis, so I usually call it "Bob".

Carolyn Duncan 22-07-2001 22:53

But gravity is a perpendicular force so it doesn't apply to everything. Oh, scary. I just used something I learned in physics.
*SHREIKS in fear and agony*

Matt Leese 23-07-2001 08:07

And I call it Energy. Or mass (E=mc^2). Or velocity (KE=.5mv^2). Or gravity (PE=mgh). Or.....

Matt who's done now ;)

EddieMcD 23-07-2001 11:35

Ok, so Murphy's law can't be proven, but it's what explains all the bad stuff that happens. And actually, gravity doesn't make us move unless we make a counter-movement to it. Of course, then you could argue that the Earth is constantly rotating and revolving around our sun, and since gravity keeps us in place, we are moving with the earth, so Newton's first law applies.

personally, i have a different definition for what sets everything in motion. as any good irishman knows, theres 2 things, other then the pub, that shape the world, put events into motion, and all that. God and luck

EddieMcD 23-07-2001 16:43

Luck doesn't exist. It's all in your mind.

God, well, that all depends on your religion, and I'm not religious whatsoever.

Well put. Don't forget the feeling you have when you walk out of the pub, kinda dizzy, and half dead... Not that I'd know from personal experience.

EddieMcD 24-07-2001 14:03

I guess the dizzyness is technically motion.

Carolyn Duncan 24-07-2001 19:53

Don't get all techy about it, just laugh.

who walks out? stumbles maybe, or carried, but walk out???

Carolyn Duncan 24-07-2001 22:08

Oooops! Stupid, silly mistake. I guess I don't really remember leaving a pub very well.
