<R65> The Operator Interface Console designed by your team must fit on the 69" wide by 12" deep shelf in the Alliance Station and the radio modem connected to the Operator Interface must be able to reach the mounting bracket on the operator stations. Be sure to leave at least 48" of slack in the 9-pin cable. |
Re: Size Of control box
Be aware ther is an emergency stop box taking up some of that 69", so make allowances.

Re: Size Of control box
if your box is exactly 12" deep and because of cables it overlaps the table top will they give you a hard time?

Re: Size Of control box
Has anyone found the width of the shelf? My team really needs the width/depth of the actual shelf we have to build for our controls.

Re: Size Of control box
Along these lines, we have a joystick that is much easier to control if it can be held in the hand. Is this allowed, or does everything have to be locked into our operator interface?

If it can be left sitting on the shelf, I believe it would be allowed. If there is a wire running between you and the OI, that would not be allowed. I know other teams have done human mounted controls, but don't remember the specifics of them. The intent of the "stand back 3 feet rule" is to make it clear that the robot is running in autonomous.
