I just rented Ladder 49 and saw it for the first time. A very good movie. I will never look at a fire fighter the same again. It was a real tear-jerker.

Ghost in the Shell 2:Innocence.

Probably the most gorgeous animated movie I have ever witnessed (and yes I mean more than DIsney, Pixar or Hayao Miyazaki). But it is unecessarily talky without ever really saying anything or having the characters interact like normal people instead of like they are in a philosiphy class. C.

Amen. I absolutely loved the manga and the first movie, and i enjoyed Stand Alone Complex, but this was just plain awful. The animation was second to none, and it had some good action, but it was all muddied up by an incomprehensible plot, and a load of ridiculous philosophy. At least with the first movie they just copied all their philisophic musings from Phillip K $@#$@#$@#$@# [edit: I guess the censor doesn't like his name... Anyway, you know the author of Blade Runner], and kept said musings to a minimum. This movie had so much potential, but totally spoiled it.

Shirow does not translate well into film.
Appleseed was worse.

Just bought and watched the incredible and brillinat Incrdibles for what must be the umpteenth time. Went right for the extras. The best of which is Mr. INcredible and Frozone doing commentary on an awful cartoon version of themselves ("OK. That rabbit is getting on my last nerve!" :D ).
I also got Nausicaa: Valley of the Wind which I have waited years for to come out on DVD!

Me and the Missus say Robots last night.
It's a gorgeous looking film with very entertaining moments and clever inventiveness but I never understand why these movies purposly date themselves by using references that are only relevant to now. No one is going to understand those jokes in 10 years. B
