Orlando? don't you mean Atlanta?

I would like to see some of the info you guys usually collect each year, but I guess its all dependant if you get it working.

I was just wondering if anyone can or has come up with something in Visual Studio. I came up with a Excel sheet that dose calculations of averages on different aspects of the game on each team, but I am really trying to come up with something in Visual Studio (just i have never programed before). Something kind of like the program that someone from team 188 came up with for last years game. I will post what I have come up with in the white papers when I get a chance (hopefully by ship date) so if you guys want to use it you can. It is something that I know works on like a Dell handheld.

Everyone have a great season.

Last year one of our mentors made a pretty sweet scouting program in excel and we are currently in the process of making another for this year. It should be done tonight. I should be able to post some of the things he put in it tomorrow. I'll let you know.

Since we got so short on time we had to succumb to pen and paper...it won't look so impressive but as long as it works i guess it'll be all right.

Sorry it took mo so long to put what I have come up with but there it is. It should be located in the white papers under scouting with some instructions on how to use it.

Good luck to everyone :yikes: .

I believe Orlando still has a regional. Silence may also mean Peachtree regional. Can we get clarification?

Team 296 (I think?) at our UTC New England Regional used a tablet PC. They already had a wifi net set up for sundial (nice job, 296, just get the bugs out and you're ready to go!), so it looked like they were using their web server and a mysql database to retrieve scouting information via WiFi from IE and store it in the DB.

The web-based method is pretty neat, since you can then go around with any WiFi laptop (or even a WiFi PDA like my Zaurus ;)) and scout like that.

I think im going to be scouting with a TPC at Buckeye in 2 weeks. Hopefully i can get some of the software other people are using to do this, but if i need to, i guess i could code my own solution quick enough. BUT That means i have to come up with a paper solution and a digital solution incase something fails or i dont make it work right! :D
An 802.11B Wireless network is AOK Right? Also, do you guys use any AIM like or IRC Software for communications when you setup a wireless scouting network? Im thinking of setting up an IRC or Jabber server so our pits and 2 wireless scouters can stay in contact

Huge props go out to you. Pen and paper is definately the way to go. Thats how 503 does it, and its worked for several years

If anyone would like to use a web-based scouting system, feel free to use the DSD Online Database. As of now, I have updated it to include 933 teams (although only truly extensive team information can be given by the team itself, so many of the teams only have a few essential fields filled in--however, the potential capabilities are numerous). I've only been working on it for about three weeks, and I'm avidly working on it even now. I will soon add a variety of features once I conjure up enough programming time to finish it all. :D I will be using this for scouting purposes at the SBPLI Long Island regional. However, it isn't exactly a site that displays in a PDA-friendly fashion...

I still think it's useful though. Of course, my opinion just might be biased. ;)
