DashBoard Viewer

I've searched through the First manual and I couldn't find much about the DashBoard Viewer. Are we allowed to use it during a competition with a laptop? can we use any laptop? who can operate that laptop , only the drivers or the coach too? on that laptop, can we do anything we want, i mean hypothetically , can I play a computer game during a competition, while i'm suppposed to operate the robot? can someone give some documentation on how to write my own DashBoard port data monitoring and analyzing program.

Re: DashBoard Viewer

Yes, you can use any laptop to view the dashboard viewer (either IFI's or someone else's). Just as long as it's on batteries.

You'll want to check with the FIRST Q&A on this, but if I ruled the world, the dashboard viewer would be part of the control system--and thus shouldn't be touched by the coach.

For all of the juicy details, try www.innovationfirst.com and look under the OI section.

There is a PDF that comes with Dashboard that explains the data packet protocol.
