it
i was just thinking (usually my first mistake) and i noticed that we all seem to have forgotten about IT and ginger. there was a time when one or the other would appear in almost every post...
|
The press has let go of them and some (including me) are tired of waiting for the unveiling and want to see Ginger used more. This is February and they were the Christmas/Hanukah (sp?) toys.

I hope he unveils iT [and the pun has been pronounced dead] at the 2002 nationals. That alone would bring so much press to the event. I am going to stop before I start something again...

i have that same impatient/quickly-losing-interest problem...i call it add

World problem
Some form of ADD plagues every person in the world. Most people just won't admit to it. It takes some of those "different" people to be the ones to admit it. Dean needs to just get It out there and get over the secrecy thing.
C~ya, Carolyn who knows that the truth is more fun to tell than lies sometimes. |
there are some real IT nuts out there. somethimes i browse thorough the IT forums to see whats crackin' and there's people saying a lot of bad things about him
|
IT is the Dean Kamen action figure with fully workable I-Bot. Or something that can go faster than light. A few team members say IT is something that can recycle heat.
|
Hoax
I'm beginnig to think that It isn't real. Then again that may just be my ADD acting up again. I'm really sick of all the speculation, just unveil the darn thing (oops! almost slipped, good thing I caught myself.)

I've never had much of a curiousity to know what It is. I'm perfectly content waiting for it to be unveiled, and I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. Though, it would be pretty cool if it was unveiled at Nats 2001.

Supposedly, that's what Dean is doing.
|
Great
Now we have to hear people talk about It until then. None of us will be able to watch finals this year because there wil be press everywhere for the unveiling. I don't get it. Dean says FIRST is getting to big to allow everyone to go to nationals (against the core of FIRST ideals), he draws all this attention to the competition, and causes FIRST to gain popularity and grow. Can someone please explain the logic behind this to me? I just don't get it. Is he a hypocryt? Remember the deal about kickoff and alcohol.
C~ya, Carolyn who is baffled at this point  |
Dean won't reveal IT at nationals next year. I can almost guarantee that to you. And why not? Because it'd be the most determental thing to FIRST he could possibly do. Yes, there would be a lot of media coverage, but none of them would be interested in FIRST. Instead, they'd be interested in the unveiling of IT. They would totally ignore FIRST because it's not what's "important." So don't expect to see IT next year at nationals.

Hopefully before nationals.
If he gets it out there before the comp it will be better, even though my common sense says that won't happen. He's concentrating on the season and how everything is progressing. If it is unveiled before the only people who would show up at nationals are people who are interested in FIRST or are hoping to get pics of it.

That's not necessarily true.
|
More than likely.

it imput
IT??
FROM what I can gather, Dean Kamen has come up with some sort of personal transportation device. I personally believe that it will use a new technology, and will probably not require wheels. This is very possible, but unlikely, hard-to-do, and its hard to fit into a small space. There are many ways to accomplish this, but none of them work well. IF he has found a way to make it work, THEN everyone will want it. But we are talking about something men have only dreamed of, and have never been able to do. As to when IT will come forth? I want to know when IT will work. Then, and only then, will IT be unveiled. thankyou |
If...then... statement
I remember those. I think your right about almost everything. What about "6 feet sitting?" Who wouldda thougt someone would invent a wheelchair that balanced and lifted handicapped persons to eye level with the rest of the world? That was a dream, was it not?

IT is a the sterling engine, and its first application will be in a personal scooter.

Either way, it's really building up the suspense.

The High Priest agrees. You'd think Dean would keep it more secure than that.
|
for all we know, IT could already be out. remember the people who saw IT said it was crazy that noone has invented it before.
|
W-O-R-M. It's The Worm!
Sorry. Got caught up in your avatar. Anyhow, if it's so crazy that no one thought of it before, then it can be almost anything. And theoretically, if it is like that, then it none of our speculations are true. |
Why is it that you now have the WORM avatar?

That's wrong!
At least you have a better one now, David.

And one I'm 50% not likely to steal.
I'm sorry, but I like that worm avatar. |
i doubt its out...remember, cities will be designed around it.
personally i think everyones way off, the sterling engines a mis-direction. or maybe not totally what if it was a subway system that ran of sterling engines? cities would be designed around that... |
Or a power generator run by the engine. Cities can be built around it. Or Dean Kamen has finally discovered the nanite. Or it could be a photon replicator.

I think IT is a device that "floats" and how Dean Kamen did this was to have a strong electromagnet underneath the roads of the city. This way, all you have to do is turn on your magnet, and you set it up so that they have the same magnetic polls, so they push away each other. That would have to be built "into" a city. Or have a city be built around it. The only problem with this, is stopping, and steering. But you would definently be able to move pretty fast!
|
No, that would be very impractical.
