enforcement at UTC

I know at past regionals theres been a lot of problems with the encforcement of rules and confusion about them... Now I was just wondering if anyone felt that there were any unfair rulings at UTC because I did not see anyone upset about any of the calls.
Anyway I thought that FIRST did a really good job of being fair at UTC, and I'm hoping that the nationals will use UTC as an example of when and when not to call DQs.... and if any of the UTC refs are out there, you did a great job, really!

I wasn't actually there, but I did tune into the webcast a few times during the day. During the alliance selection, I couldn't help but smile when they emphasized the whole if-you-turn-down-an-alliance-invitation-you-CAN'T-be-chosen-later thing. Anyone at the NYC regional would have known that one team didn't really know this, and so a great team missed out on the finals.

One thing that I'd like cleared up - during one of the quarter(semi?)-finals, when RAGE was against that small pusher guy (Hyo-something?), on the webcast, it looked like that small pusher guy completely burned the carpet. After that round, Woodie began vacuming. From the webcast, it looked like the field was kinda damaged ...alot. Anyone who was actually there mind telling me what happened that round?

What happened was a robot in that match had their light bulb broken and glass went on the field. So they had to vaccume to avaoid danger. DIdn't hold things up to long.

Yeah 4 or 5 times this team was chosen as an alliance partner. They declined the first time  and more teams tried to pick them. I'm suprised the announcer at NYC just didn't say, "If anyone else has any notion of picking this team, forget about it!" They were at CT and smartened up and accepted the first person who picked them! My self and other teammates were betting whether or not they would accept!

Yeah, i was the one who actually did that. I tried pushing them away with our arm, and it slipped over top of them and just flattened the light fixture on the back, bulb and all. I want to know hoe they fixed it that fast though. They had an entirly new light on there for the new match.

We were that 'small pusher guy' trying to keep RAGE from scoring balls. We are the Who's-CTEKS (pronounced Housy TEKS), this is our second year. We also can grab two goals, Check us out at the nationals!

We apologize to RAGE if we damaged your arm. We had scouted LI and had truly wished to be paired WITH you at New Haven. Your Bot and Team have their act together!

As far as the light, it is done for. Our driver straightened it with pliers and borrowed a bulb from our alliance captain (Thank you Team #271 for picking us!). It lighted which let us continue.

We never got a light from FIRST this year so we are now trying to buy one from North American Signal. If we can't, can anyone help us at the nationals?

Team 716, come to 166's pit, we have a whole extra light sitting in one of our crates from last year that we shipped to nationals, you guys can borrow it for the competition if you'd like!

Andy Brockway 12-04-2002 11:23

Thank you Pamela and Team 166 for the offer! We received ours from NA Signal yesterday so we're all set. We will stop by at the Nationals anyway. good luck!
