What do you want to see in the FIRST Store?
 

Hello Everyone....

We are the LOGOLOC Team official supplier of FIRST merchandise. We're interested in getting some new ideas for the FIRST web store. It's important to us to get a better understanding of what you really want.

We have 6 new product launches going out over the next 4 weeks including new logo apparel, team apparel, game shirts & trading items. The first launch will be sometime next week.

We have had several teams inquire about trading cards. They want to put their Robot on the front of the card and team info on the back. We will have this available to you in a couple of weeks if anyone else is interested.

How about:

Videos/DVDs of matches from the recent weekend's tournaments. No production necessary, just compile the matches, cut out the fluff, and get 'em out asap. SOAP on steroids.

A calendar - not something lame, something cool, like the car or motorcycle calendars you see around Christmastime. Professional photos of FIRST robots in action. The 2002 Beast tipping over at the start of a match. 2003 Team 25 gettin' some air. Las Guerillas jousting with some other tall robot in the finals of some event. An over the shoulder shot of Raul running a match. Sparks from a F-P motor while is it being abused. Carpet dust, and grease, and aluminum shavings, and shiny metal boxes, and... sorry :) You know what I mean. $10 a copy, they'd sell out.

Hats. Cool ones.

I've always found that most FIRST merchandise was stuff that a generally fashion conscious person wouldn't wear outside of a competition. Last year's products which were on sale at the Georgia Dome were a huge improvement over the past.

Things I'd like to see, that fit well with the latest fashion trends

- Polos: Striped and Non Striped. If the shirts were designed like Lacoste shirt or one of these from AE, except with a small FIRST logo in place of the company logo, I think you'd have a big hit. Vibrant colors are good this year.

- Hoodies are always great, especially for us folks who live in colder areas.

- I know the fad is slowly dying, but the mesh back trucker hats are still a personal favourite of mine.

I could sit here all day and give detailed descriptions of what I'd like to see (I'm a bit of a clothes-a-holic), but I leave it like this for now.

Similar to what Karthik said, a hoodie sweatshirt like this but with the FIRST logo on it (and perhaps offered in both dark and light colored versions?).

I like this shirt, could you offer a long sleeve version as well?

Oh, 1 more idea, how about a mousepad?

FIRST Polo Shirts

I like shirt breast pockets. Invaluable when I'm running around at a competition.
DVDs-Awesome idea.
Non white bucket hat-working in the pit and white do not mix.
116 made trading cards for 2004 and they were popular items at regionals.
Dimensions on the pod backpack. Can that hold a frisbee?
I want one of the fleece vests.
Items for sale at regionals? Return to Atlanta.

Ah yes, but not all polo shirts are created equally.

I saw those both on the website and in person. The style and cut of those isn't very similar to the Lacoste or AE shirts I was describing. The current FIRST polos you linked have a much more drab & boring feel to them. Not something I would want to wear.

I've always wondered if there was a FIRST store.

Window & Bumper stickers. Maybe FIRST safety glasses/full face shields, etc...
And I second the Trading Card/ Calender idea -- maybe those one page per day calenders, where you rip off one page every day, each page has stuff about a team.

As far as women's clothing goes...

Fitted zip-up hoodies (like this) and semi-collared ones (like this) would be fantastic with a FIRST logo on the top of the left front panel. Even plain, stretch tank tops could be nice with some FIRST representation on them (like these).

I would also have to agree with Karthik... vibrant colours are definitely in this year.

In my searching through LOGOLOC, I didn't come across any bags... do you think a laptop-sized sidebag could be useful? :)

I would like to see a frisbee. they are always great fun in between matches and always seem to be a hot item at competitions. another thing i think would be great is a coffee mug for those late night fixes and possibly even a quality tool box. some how ours dont seem to last for more than a year or two.

FIRST saftey glasses, as if I don't have enough safty glasses. Maybe with a logo that would be cool, that way people would actually want to wear their saftey glasses. . . Ummm maybe

I want bags also, bookbags, tote bags and laptop bags any of those would be great.
Also fitted hats would be really nice.

Flexfit hats! I do not really like a velcro strap in the back of the hat.....very annoying for someone used to a fitted hat.....

I love my hats, but i don't love any plastic adjustable tabs or velcro straps....

I'd like to see a Nalgene-like bottle, those are always fun. Also, pajama pants, and silicone Livestrong-like bracelets.

Here are some things I've looked for, but never found...

-Plain FIRST logo hoodies, shirts, etc. Just a big FIRST logo, nothing fancy.
-FIRST Logo watterbottle (blue top, white body, just the logo)

So why are all the ladies shirts in pastels are white? Bright colors are nice but many girls love black, grey, and dark colors like the men's shirts and wouldn't be caught in pastel.

How about shirts with robotic quips?

Any jewelry in the line?

I definately agree with whoever made the pj pants idea. We have them here that say STATE across the rear or up the leg. Replace that with FIRST and it would be really cute!

As to shirts, polos are always a hit with the ladies. Fun ones like these or these are very cute and classic looks that I know a lot of girls my age wear.

On the non-clothing side, I'd love to see sticky note pads (like post-it) but with a faded FIRST logo in the background. As the post-it queen, that's definately something I'd be into!

Also I love the frames but I would love it if you could get the 5 x 7 in the other orientation! Just a small request!

As for a request of mine, larger flash drives at competitive prices. The only one on the site is a 32MB one and it is 40 bucks. I can buy a 128MB one for that price somewhere else. I understand printing is an issue in cost, but does it really cost more to print on a 32mb than a 128mb or even a 1gb flash drive?

Also, I don't really like the "earth tone" colors that are offered in the t-shirts. If you attend a FIRST event, you will see that the main goal of the team shirts are to attract attention to yourself and your team in a positive way. These usually include load and bright colors such as vibrant blues, reds, yellows, (tye-dyes), or flourescent (eye blinding) greens. I think Logoloc can look into that for their line as well.. Very "loud" colors.
In other words.. Primary colors, and the colors that can be made directly from those.

That is all I could come up with as of now. Thanks Logoloc for the FIRST line of producs.


edit: I do have one more kind of complaint regarding the new "Team FIRST" line. On the back, it says "Team 05". I know that this means 2005 (as in the year) but when I see that, I think FIRST Team #5. Not that there is anything wrong with team 5, but.. I'm not on team 5, and would rather have it say FIRST 2005 or something like that on the backs. I don't know.. Just a thought.

I got a 512 for Christmas that was $40. That really makes the 32mb non competative, and for me, a mere 32mb is too small anyway.

they have those customizable to have your team number. look under by the price and such. It does cost a little more but still team 05 doesn't have to pay the extra 7 (i think) because they already have a #5 on the back. good point though elgin.

Remember the FIRST Frenzy crew shirts with all the tour dates? How about something like that, but one that wears longer? (I've had to pull mine from the t-shirt rotation already.)

I like that...

How about teams uniforms...we all want different teams shirts so why not just let people buy 'em from the site and have some part of it be a donation to FIRST in general. (Teams would have to give the ok for their shirts, hats, etc. to be sold on the site, of course.)

I definitly agree with pajama/gym pants. Those are comfortable to wear and great at competition.

Hoodies are also a huge plus.

One thing I'd really like to push for though, is emphasis on women's sizes. For some of us, having more female focused good-looking products (i.e., not pastel...) is quite a money drawing possibility.

decals, id love to advertize for first on my jeep. Frisbee's regulation 185 gram ultimate firsbees. My team would buy the entire stock. Laptop backpacks, ect. Soundtracks of the various events/ regionals, they'd sell out in a heart beat...

Fitted baseball caps. Either light color material cap with the full-color new logo or a monochrome version of the new logo on a navy or black cap. No, not flex-fit, velcro, trucker plastic tabs or any other such nonsense, but honest-to-goodness fitted caps. Like the Yankees have -- and of the same quality!

I also second the request to have a smaller logo embroidered on the polo shirts. I would also like to see higher quality polo shirts, but also for the placement of the logo to be better. I don't want the logo on my shoulder. I want it on my chest. :)

If you're going to do that, they should have a reverse image of the new FIRST logo on the soles, so if you are walking on a soft material (sand, mud, etc.), the logo is stamped with every footprint... kind of like this!

I've got an interesting idea. Let's take some of the "profit" from the sale of these items and turn it into scholarships for students or for teams that need the assistance. A sweatshirt priced at $39.95 IS A SWEET DEAL FOR FIRST but a major markup as far as cost per item is involved. In that way individuals who purchase these items will be directly benefiting the program and not simply adding to the bottom line.

We are awarding school varsity letters this year. We need a FIRST pin that would be appropriate to give with the letter. Also a stitched patch that could be sewn on the back of the letter jacket would be nice. There is nothing available at this time.

I would personally like to see a FIRST Ring. For example like how you can order a class ring but instead FIRST would have a ring that has FIRST written on the front, your team number on one side, and a mold of the triangle, circle, square.

I would also like to see the official FIRST water! Where is it? It seems its no where available in the Noth East.

Slippers. I live in Connecticut and it gets cold during the winter.

Scarfs, well how about most winter apparel.

Trading cards I would have to agree with.

Does anyone know about those Lance Armstrong braclets? How about FIRST makes something like that? You know charge a couple bucks for it and then contribute the revenue towards a worthy charity or back to FIRST.

I believe everything in the FIRST store is awesome. They've got a lot of cool and interesting items up for purchase. I would like to see lower prices. Some of the stuff in there is way over priced. So I believe in possible lower prices.

Also, I would actually like to see a store front at all the competitions. Believe me, you can probably sell alot more at competitions with spectators and people from teams. Bring back the FIRST store on SITE.
